Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone here owned a 4 amp Lavatube as I need to verify something. I got hold of one of these units yesterday and there are a couple of issues with it - the main issue is the screen numbering is hardly visible, sort of washed out or faded, anyone else here have this problem?

I contacted the vendor and he says they're are all the same but I figured someone would have flagged it on the forum. The other issue is a common one - the threads are super rough and feel like they have sand in 'em. Obviously the thread part comes down to contamination or a blunt Lathe bit, some Noalox fix it.

I 've owned a couple of the original Lava's and once you accept it's faults (voltage issues, end cap, battery cap) it's still a worthy little device for it's cost. These newer models from Uniq are decidedly shoddy in my opinion - very, very light, poorly constructed with TERRIBLE threads. They make the L- Rider versions look decidedly classy in comparison which is probably saying something...

Cheers.

Sorry to hear that. I had high hopes for it whatever version number that is. I've heard it called the version 2. I was debating whether to get the 1.5 or the Uniq one.
Fortunately, the version 1.5 is made by J. Lin and doesn't seem to have any significant problems I'm aware of. I guess I can live with a 3.2amp limit.

You might have more responses if you post in the Lavatube subforum under the Variable Voltage forum. All the versions are represented there.

I don't think so. Uniq is affiliated with a company whose name begins with "June", June Something.
Both versions came out at roughly the same time and they're both being produced.
There's a discussion about this in the Lavatube forum.

You should have enough posts now, you just need to wait until the system resets. Can take up to an hour.
