Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone here owned a 4 amp Lavatube as I need to verify something. I got hold of one of these units yesterday and there are a couple of issues with it - the main issue is the screen numbering is hardly visible, sort of washed out or faded, anyone else here have this problem?
I contacted the vendor and he says they're are all the same but I figured someone would have flagged it on the forum. The other issue is a common one - the threads are super rough and feel like they have sand in 'em. Obviously the thread part comes down to contamination or a blunt Lathe bit, some Noalox fix it.
I 've owned a couple of the original Lava's and once you accept it's faults (voltage issues, end cap, battery cap) it's still a worthy little device for it's cost. These newer models from Uniq are decidedly shoddy in my opinion - very, very light, poorly constructed with TERRIBLE threads. They make the L- Rider versions look decidedly classy in comparison which is probably saying something...
Cheers.
