Unusually High Resistance on my DID builds

I'd like to preface this post by saying that I'm still fairly new to Genesis rba's in general, so it's entirely possible that I am doing something wrong on a very base and fundamental level.

I'm noticing that every coil I build is measuring out to something far beyond what all logic says they should be measuring out to. I've been doing 3/2 and 4/3 wraps of 28awg kanthal on 160mm of solid-rolled #500 mesh. I have been wrapping my coils around a drill bit roughly the size of the DID wick hole, and have been ending up with anywhere from 1.2-1.5 ohms for my 3/2's. and anywhere up to 3 ohms for my 4/3's, which I know is entirely wrong. I thought it might be an issue with my multimeter, but my 1.5ohm i06 is measuring out to 1.5-1.6, my 3ohm boge cartos to 2.9, and my 1.8ohm vivi nova heads to 1.7. I'm using a relatively cheapish digital multimeter from radio shack, and measuring resistance by touching one lead to the center post, and the other to the 510 threads.

Any suggestions?

I had the same problem with some Kanthal 28. I had to reorder from ebay. My first order was a dark color. My second was shiny.

I ordered my wire from both OKC Vapes and Temco (via ebay). Both appear the same in terms of shine and feel.

I got my first order from OKC vapes also. My second order was also thicker. Much more ridgid.

What is high ohms? Typically a very high ohms or even 9.9 means a short.

last month i also ordered some 28g kanthal from okc and recieved 32g. with 28 g wire and a 3/4 wrap your ohms should be about .08 and the 4/5 wrap about 1.0. thats for a real did atty. if you have a dud, i am not sure. after recieving my wire i knew immediatly that it was 32g. i called and told them that they were mis labling their wire, so not only did they send me extra 28g, they also threw in a sheet of 500 mesh. the 32g was definatly darker in color to the 28g as well.

Sorry to correct you Ictinike but a very high ohms means you have a loose or no connection...with a short you get a low ohm message.
