Temperature control will only work if your coils are nickel or titanium. And nickel & titanium should never be run in power/wattage mode.

If the coil is Kanthal or NiChrome then you need to run these in power/wattage mode.
Thanks susan, but how do I know what kind of coil I have? Spare 0.3 coil I got with my Mod says ti 0.3. I guess ti stands for titanium.
And can you please explain what Kanthal & NiChrome exactly is.

Yes, Ti 0.3 means the coil is made of titanium wire. You MUST to run that coil in temperature control mode.

If your 0.5Ω coil doesn't say Ti or Ni or Ni200 then I will assume it's Kanthal wire. Every coil that I have seen that just has the resistance printed on it is made of Kanthal wire. Kanthal wire coils MUST be run in power/wattage mode.

Kanthall, NiChrome (NiCr), TItanium (Ti), Nickel (Ni or Ni200) and Stainless Steel (SS316, SS316L) are all type of wire that coils can be made of.

Coils made of Stainless Steel can be run in BOTH power/wattage AND temperature control mode.

which coil are you using, the 0.3 ohm titanium or the 0.5 ohm one?

:vapor:
Right now I'm using 0.5 one & I also have a spare ti 0.3 but I didn't try that yet

Thanks susan, your explanation cleared all my confusions regarding different types of coils.
But before I use my ti 0.3 coil, is there any safety feature I should be careful about! And can you give me an idea about the temperature I should use my ti 0.3 coil at? As it's my first time using temperature control

Every TC mod works a little differently. Some require you to:
  • lock in your coil resistance when the coil is at room temperature.
  • choose the type of wire your coil is made of
Go out at see if there are any youtube reviews on your mod or read the user manual that came with your mod.
And can you give me an idea about the temperature I should use my ti 0.3 coil at? As it's my first time using temperature control
I have never used titanium coils yet. But start low (maybe 430 F) and continue to raise it until you find a temperature you like to vape at. The temperature you set will determine how hot the coil stays and thereby have more effect on vapor and flavor.

You may also have to set the wattage as well.
  • Wattage is your accelerator to get you up to speed (i.e. temperature).
  • It determines how fast your coil heats up.
________

Some GENERAL information

Priming a Coil

All cotton coils have to be primed well with juice. If they are not primed well the cotton will burn. Once the cotton is burned the burned taste doesn't go away.

To prime the coil, drop 5-8 drops of juice right inside the coil (sometimes less/more depending on the size of the coil head), another drop of juice in all the holes on the side of the coil. I watch the cotton absorb the eliquid and when it can't hold any more I put the coil in the base.
  • If Bottom Filling - Fill the tank and then screw the base back onto the tank.
  • If Top Filling (some tanks are top filled) - Screw the tank on the base and then top fill it.
Once you put the tank on the battery give it several unpowered primer puffs. This will make sure the wick is fully saturated.

Rule of Thumb

The rule of thumb for EVERY vape device you'll ever own is the same (when running in power or wattage/voltage mode). Turn your voltage/wattage down, take a few hits, bump it up, couple more hits. Repeat until you find your "sweet spot". If it starts to taste funny, gets too hot or tastes burnt, back it down. Different flavors will have different sweet spots so you just have to experiment.

The sweet spot is somewhere between the "vape is cool but not too cool" or "warm but not too warm". I like my fruits vapes cooler and my desert vapes warmer. Everyone has their own preferences.

Thanks susan,,,, you totally cleared all my confusions. Now I'm ready to fire my ti0.3 coil. Will let you know about my temperature controlled vaping experience soon.
Thanks again
