Upgrading from a 510...?

It's been almost 3 months since I ordered my 510 and tried my first vape. I was able to quit smoking analogs in less than a week with surprisingly few problems. All's been going well since then, and I've found some juices I really like (and, naturally, some I really hate).

However, I feel like I'm starting to outgrow the 510 a bit. I get the impression that designing an ecig to look like an analog means it will have certain inherent weaknesses in power, vapor production, and so on. Moreover, the mass-produced/low-cost of the 510 seems like there will necessarily be some quality control issues - I've had some atomizers that were simply poor performers straight out of the box.

My question is: what's a good ecig to get now that I know I like vaping but have outgrown the 510? I'm looking for something that produces more vapor, more flavor, more throat hit, etc...any thoughts?

Sounds like its time for a mod. I started with the 510 and this got me off of cigarettes. It really was not my desire for anything stronger but everybody on the forum was talking about 3.7 and 6.0 mods. Based on reviews my first one was a Little Chuck but this didn't work out. Then I got a Super 6 and waiting a couple of months to get it. It was exactly what I expected. Lot of vapor and great throat hit. I just ordered a Chameleon and can't wait to get it.

Just be sure if you go to a 6.0 volts the regular 510 atomizers will not keep up (they will die). You need to get some extra high voltage atomizers.

Everybody has different opinions and reviews about different mods and I am sure they are all good. The Super 6 is one of the smallest and lightest mod made.(that is what I was looking for) I don't like anything that is hugh so be careful what you decide on.

All mods, except very few (only the Juicebox comes to mind, IIRC), use stock atties, and the 510 is the strongest of those.

I'd try cheaply, with a KR8 battery, for example, if you even like 510s on higher voltage; Joyes run on 3.1. If you don't, like quite a few people, the eGo is the way to go. If you do like it, mods.

I like the 801, best not that expensive. Really performs.

I started out with a Joye 510 about a month ago. My biggest complaint is that the batteries just didn't last. I was constantly changing them out, so I got a Tornado from Totally Wicked. It uses the 510 attys. Got it today, and the vapor is MASSIVE! Too early to really tell about battery life, but.... I've been hitting it hard for the past 7 hours on the same battery. That is already a huge improvement over the regular 510 batteries.

I just moved up to the Vypr-510 from vaprlife and couldn't be happier. Its a very well made device for the money and the vapor production is fantastic and much more consistent than that of the stock 510 bats. I really wasn't expecting it to make as big of a difference as it does. Think I'm also going to be ordering a Super 6 sometime in the future as well.

Did you change any other part except the battery? Are you using the same atomizer and the same juice as before?

I posted a 510 make/model paragraph of questions in another thread and no-one cares to answer it.

What I am asking is was it just a new battery that made this difference for you or an entire new unit?

Have you tried a pass-through without a cut off yet?

I'd say if you want a special treat on the side get yourself a 601 model pipe. My friend lent me one to borrow over a weekend and it actually choked me and made my eyes water like I had hit a real cigarette for the first time. You can refill the cartridges and buy entire packs of batteries from non e-cigarette sites that work. I have one on my wish list. I just have to wait probably for fathers day as my wife will flip if I buy another unit.

Start cheap with a boxmod. There are several places that sell them for around $30. For $50 you can get a Bartleby, which is the best box mod available - it has built-in USB charging and doubles as a PT. You can spend a lot more on fancy mods, but at the end of the day they're just shiny battery boxes. There are lots of people out there with multiple $100+ mods that still use their Bart more often than not, just because it's so convenient.

I like my plain 5v 510 power pass tru. I bought it for 15.95 at myvaporstore.com. I also bought a spare. Plug into a computer, usb wall adapter, car usb adapter and that's all you need. Super Vapor, throat hit, taste. Cheap! I use a 510 mega battery when I'm not near a hook up. I've had my P/T about a month and haven't had any problems with the atty's or the P/T.

I am one of those people that climbed the e-cig ladder looking for the ultimate in vaping pleasure.

I started with a 901, then went to a 510, then got the 510 mega batteries, then got the 510 passthrough, then went to a kissbox with a passthrough, then got a eGo, and now I just ordered my Provape PV1.

Looking back over the more then 600.00 I have spent in the last 6 months lol I wish I had got the PV1, or a Chuck, or a Xhaler, or the PV1 in the first place.

there are allot of "steps" you can take, or you can just go big in the first place.

If you still want to creep up the ladder a Bartleby or a eGo is a good next step.

If you have the money to spend, go for a real mod... you cannot go wrong in my opinion, and you will save money... granted you will not be able to take a picture of your 600 dollar ladder of vaping history, but it's really just overrated ;)

I know what ya mean about having to wait for fathers day or your wife will flip. I'm starting to outgrow my 510 as well and am looking for a good mod. Anybody have any suggestions on building a mod using a 510 pcc with a drained battery? Didn't ralize you weren't supposed to use it as a primary charger until the battery died and I finally looked up the warranty info. I thought that maybe I could just open it up (as it is hinged with only one screw and a rivet) and change the batteries. No such luck. so I ordered a new one and am looking at the old one with mod in mind.

thanks, looks like i am going with your route and will order my parts seperately from myvaporstore instead of buying the starter kit. Would you please link me to the site for 5v passthru, I found couple different power passthru but i couldn't find the 5v 510 one because description doesn't specifcally say what volts it runs, . And would I need to get the high voltage atomizer to run the 5v passtru or the regular one can handle it??

Oh man, I hope I don't outgrow the 510 I've ordered! It's my first and I'd like it to last me a very long time. The battery life kind of concerned me so I got the kit with the PCC so hopefully that will make it workable.

One word of caution Bubbakins. DO NOT USE YOUR PCC AS A PRIMARY CHARGING DEVICE.I had my first one about a month till I couldn't get a decent charge out of it anymore, so I looked up the warranty info from where I bought it. That's when I learned that they only have so many charges in the case itself, then death. and no warranty. use the usb plugs or any other charger to charge your batteries and the case only on away missions.
