Hey guys, new to the forums and pretty new to vaping as well. I smoked for pretty close to 14 years, menthol. Towards the end of last year I decided it was time to give it up based on a suggestion of a friend who had recently quit, vaping! I started off using a starter kit from a local vape shop, the Tripl3. My birthday followed shortly after, and to my surprise my friend who got me into vaping purchased me a Halo Triton starter kit for my birthday. Well it's been a little since I got the Halo Triton setup, and have been doing some reading, and think it's time to look into an upgrade, for the reasons below.

By the way, haven't touched an analog since the day I dropped it and picked up vaping. :D

I mentioned that I think it's time to look into an upgrade. My reasons are as follows.

•I started off on Halo Sub-Zero for my juice, love it. I picked up a few other from a local shop, Berry Blast and Paradise (tastes like banana runts!) at least while I was taste testing. When I got some more Triton tanks and filled them up, the Berry Blast wasn't as berry, or blasting. The Paradise, tried 2 tanks, 2 coils, tastes weird and has a dryish after taste. After doing some reading I find that plastic vs glass and top vs bottom coils can make a difference, not to mention VV. So I'm thinking, get a better setup.

•I love my triton setup, and will keep it no matter what I end up with. One thing I've noticed about it, other than the taste difference in some juices, is that when the batteries are used for a little it's harder to pull on it. I believe I read somewhere that if the voltage isn't consistent through the usage of the battery things like this can happen, not to mention the taste/vapor change.

My local vape shop has SmokTek Winders out for their taste tests and suggested it or the iTaste 3 (Since I'm looking to get into VV). I've also been looking for a glass bottom coil tank, since some of the juices I use are citrus/cinnamon based, and am thinking about the Kanger ProTank 3, unless I get any other suggestions on a cheaper just as good setup. :)

I know it's a long read, but I'm new and out here looking for input. Obviously people have their own opinions, some may differ, so I'm not here to start a war of rival opinions. Big questions..

•Which VV battery is the best next upgrade from my Triton?
•Which glass bottom coil tank is the best one to get without spending too much. (Since I'll need 2 or 3)
•What's the best place to buy this stuff online? Good prices/reputation.

Of course this is all a matter of opinion, and I won't hold anyone responsible, just looking for some help.

i moved from the triton to a vision spinner, and then a sigelei v5 - you might want to consider skipping that middle step.

glass tanks - i've had very mixed results - all seem highly finiky - tried a few pro-tanks, aspire davide - lots of futzing to make them work right. i'd suggest Kanger T3's - plastic, but bottom coil, and an upgrade from the triton tanks.

gotvapes.com has served me well, ecigblends as well for juice and parts.

I have the Halo Triton and they now offer a variable voltage battery, you may want to try that before buying a whole new system. Batteries do get old, and most of them are pretty much exactly the same from company to company, jut the threading may differ. Also, I have been told, a battery fresh off the charger runs a little hotter for the first few puffs. And just in case, the juices you brought home were probably MUCH fresher than the samples you tried --again, just my guess. Most juices will taste better within a few days and with a little steeping. I noticed this at my B&M - they offered samples from bottles that were already open and probably had been for a while, not samples of brand new bottles like what you take home. The juices I bought did not taste like theirs for a week or two. You mentioned trying glass tanks and bottom coils, I don't have experience with that to help you out. Just wanted to chime in about the VV battery that is available and also tell you not to toss that juice for a week or two while it ages!

Did you know that you can build your own cartotanks for the Halo? All you need are blank cartos in 808 threading, and those are really common. Everything else is the same parts you would use for any other threading.

And Halo does have variable voltage batteries.

Personally, I think if you're going to upgrade from that then don't do a baby step, go for an MVP 2.0 as a minimum.

It's a bit expensive but the Aspire Nautilus is an amazing clearomizer. It's glass with dual bottom coils. I hate clearomizers but I found I love this one. I see vapage has them for 24.99 but they are out of stock as of now. The air control ring makes tight or loose draw a thing of the past. Also take a look at the Provari. It's expensive as well but you won't find many who are sorry they bought one. It will stand the test of time. I have had mine for about 2 years. They have excellent customer service and very cheap repairs turned around in a week. I have 3. I treat them like crap and they work flawlessly every time I pick one up.

The only thing about the plastic tanks are some of the blends I use are a bit more caustic and are known to damage plastic tanks. That's why I'm looking for a glass tank. I appreciate the info, this is all part of my new found addiction :p

in between the ice ages
I started off with an 808. Then a different 808 battery with more MAH. I was looking at a Halo for my next upgrade. Did a lot of reading on this forum, and accepted the inevitable and bought a Provari. Cut out all of the 'newest and greatest' and 'shiny' purchases in between my 808's and a PV that I have confidence in. If you've got the bucks, read up on it, especially looking for complaints/problems with the Provari in comparison to something else. I've read good things about the MVP 2 as a PV that is less expensive than the Provari.

Yea I thought about the Halo VV, but the only thing that puts me off of the idea is the 808 threading. I've got two vape shops in the area. One carries a lot of starter stuff, where the Halo was purchased. The other carries mostly semi/a lot more advanced stuff. So I'm thinking of staying with the store that carries stuff I could upgrade to/from.

Thanks for the suggestions on the steeping, the juices that tasted funky are going on 2 weeks now so I might give them a whirl again to see.

I really like my triton other than the plastic. (after all…my email address is plasticisevil) I've only been vaping for a week and had no desire to drop a fortune on equipment. Not yet at least. But HAD to have glass. I also ordered from desert vapes. Went with the Sigelei V3 and a pro tank 2. The price couldn't be beat. I may upgrade in the future but both are well suited for my needs.

I did exactly the same thing, and then I also bought a Reo :) I still use my Halo Tritons when I'm going out, because they're so small and discrete!

I think one of my local shops actually carries the pbc v2, I'll have to check them out, thanks :)

I've only read good things about the provari. For right now, that's a bit outside the range of what I was wanting to spend. :p One day maybe.

Like I said, you can build your own glass cartotanks for the Halo. It's not hard. It's the exact same as any other cartotank build, you just buy 808 blanks instead of 510 blanks.

I use cartotanks exclusively on my Provari, and only just realized I could buy 808 cartos and use them on the vv Triton :)

Not so sure about that. Halo may have their own size requirements to keep you buying from them (which if true I resent). I went to a local shop today and tried to find an adapter. The 808 wouldn't work.

Hello. I too started with Halo Hardware and juice about a year ago.
I now use a Itaste MVP2 Itaste vv and a cool fire 1 for my hardware i like mods that i can carry around with me
I still use only Halo juice for all my vaping I have tried others and didn't think they were that good if anyone has any suggestions on juice please let me know, anyway i kinda felt like i was betraying Halo by not using their hardware anymore But i see Halo as more a ejuice company than a battery/tank company plus i think the mods i have work very well,Sorry Halo
But any suggestions on premium juice would be helpful thank you

KR808D-1 threading.

They should work fine on the Triton, it's not proprietary. I've got several 3rd party carts that work fine on mine.

Great info, thank you. So I can get an adaptor and use a 510 tank? Where might I find such a thing? My local shop couldn't help.
