ok, so im considering a 5v box mod. ive used nothing but a joye 510 so far and i cant deal with the short battery life anymore. ive been vaping 70/30 pg/vg and its fine at 3.7 for the most part but id love to get more flavor and vapor out of it. im happy with the TH at 3.7 with my juices, so im wondering if i switched to 40/60 pg/vg if that would provide a similar TH at 5v. i also want to use less PG because at times its harsh on my throat and leaves me dehydrated. also, would i go through more attys at 5v? thanks guys.

The regular 510 batteries run at around 3.1volts underload. See:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/joye-510/65055-battery-voltages-surprise.html

And most mod batts are true 3.7v underload. So... you would see an increase in wattage from @4.5Watts to 6+Watts with just a true 3.7volt mod - a Bartleby or one of Ken's box mods for example. And you could still use the regular 510 atomizer without much problem. Going to a 5 volt, though - the resultant wattage is quite high - 11+Watts and I have burned out regular 510 attys at that level. A good range for flavor and not burning out attys is 6-9Watts. (volts/ohms x volts).

Another ploy would be to get a Special Edition Riva battery from liberty flights (when he restocks them) - they've been tested at 3.7v underload and do well for vapor and flavor even with low resistance atomizers. You could also use lr attys with a 3.7v mod but they are not recommended on regular 510 batteries or batteries rated less than @440 mAh. So you could use them on a regular eGo battery.

As far as PG/VG goes - VG will tend to reduce throat hit but be less harsh with dryness (ymmv). Both are desiccants but I find VG less drying than PG.

Lots of info there so feel free to PM me if you have followup questions.
