Hi guys,
Its me again. First off, let me apologies that I've started so many discussion threads.

I have a big problem.
I accidentally left my vape standing and it was left on for well over 10mins.
I'm using an IGO-W single coil (around 1.3ohm) with a brass nemesis clone.

When I wanted to pick it up for a puff, the whole thing was too hot to hold. Literally scalding hot. The battery was hot as well, but no peculiar smell from it. It's a AW IMR 18500 i got from FStoplights. The cotton wick on the atty was burnt black at the coil. My corian drip tip was slightly charred at the base with some decoloration.
The delrin assembly in the top cap of my nemesis also came loose. It just drops out without being able to hold in place at all.

So my question is:
1) is my battery still safe to use?
2) is my vape and set up safe to reuse?
3) how can I put back in place the delrin insert?

I hope to get some help guys. Really lost here. ;(

yeah mech mod should be ok to use it again, but just check the connections etc to make sure no melted components etc
the battery should be ok, just check if your batt's voltage and also try to charge it and see if it retains the voltage. it should be fine but as someone previously said, safety worth more than 20 dollar (really? where did you guys buy battery for 20 dollar??!) i bought my pana batts for 11 bux , comes in pair too!

Did the wrapper on the AW shrink/warp/bubble? Sounds like you fired the coil until the battery died...

If I had a VV/VW that took that size, I might still try to use it, (after testing voltage and physical state of battery), but I would not put it back into a mech.

In this case, safe is less then $20...

Be safe
I

No. No visible damage to the battery. No foul smell, no gaseous discharge. Otherwise, it would have ripped apart my mod since the vents were closed.
I contacted Steven of FStopLights. He said should be alright... Now I'm waiting for more info from him. Hopefully I can get it tested out with my multimeter...

Rightfully u should throw away the battery as a safety precaution. Theres definitely some risks due to overheating. Li-ion batteries r know to be potentially explosive from high heat, misuse, high impact force, over current draw etc. Ref: Safety Instructions for 18650 batteries

But these incidents r common occurrence for mech users. In such cases whereby:
its not overly heated nor shorted,
no physical battery damage such as bulge n,
no current overdrawn, there should not be much of an issue.

You might wish to do a simple quick RA (Risk Assessment) :D using severity vs likelihood to judge the outcome. Main critical technical info is on the chances of battery explosion causing severe injury under such conditions.
Imho, the risk rating should be low.
Reported cases causing injuries r mostly due to faulty/unsuitable chargers.

Same thing happened to me once 6 mths ago on a 14500 mini mech with 3.5ml Vivi tank(like lollipop. .lol). Accidentally Left it on table activated for at least 15 mins.

Later found whole battery tube compartment leaking due to heat-expanded hot juice flowing down. Surprisingly n luckily bat still not shorted nor damage to components. Other than that, no issues after washin , cleaning , drying n rewicking (of course). I m stil using the battery .:)

I decided to trust my engineering instincts and went ahead with a quick repair. Epoxied the delrin insert back into the top cap of the nemesis, only to realize that the positive pin of my IGO-W also came loose. Gonna try repairing that too.
My battery is working fine after a full charge last night. I test fired the PV with a new coil and after giving the batt a quick 5min recharge. Fired fine, no issue. Somehow the circuit did go haywire midway and made my entire IGO-W burning hot. After a little tweaking, it was fine an working well again, though I've no idea what cause that sudden burst of heat.

My coil seems a little off. The IGO-W without the post holes is quite a pain to recoil. Gonna try drilling some post holes and make my life simpler. Then, I shall put in a dragon coil. :D

Vapes fine for now, no issue after all the work at 2am last night. Now my only problem is juice! No more juice!

AW is meant to take some abuse. Don't worry I have been in the same situation as you. It's only the battery has been drained pop it back into the charger and you're good to go as long as there are no physical deformation on it. My AWs have been into the washing machine and they are still working now.

happened to me before too.. the whole thing got so hot that it scalded my hand slight when i touched it... i had to use cloth and open up everything for it to cool... took the battery to charge again and it is still working for me till now

Exactly! My IGO contact pin came loose and dropped out too. Haven't fixed that yet. But after a good cleaning and full charge, everything is as good as new. :)

Happened to me countless times when I was using my Nemesis.

I burnt myself so much that I got ...... and switched to another mod until my magnets get here.

Nothing much to worry about, the first thing I did was to take a thick cloth, dissemble it, take out the battery, let it cool down.

If you are using a reputatable charger like the NiteCore Intellicharger or XTR chargers, put the battery in after it's cooled down. If it charges, it works,

I'm using a brass nemesis clone! The delrin insulator for the contact pin dropped out after it overheated. Not sure if you encountered that.

My nemesis clone is using magnets, but the button is still sluggish. Depresses so easily.

You mean this circled area? If yes.. no problem as delrin have high heat resistant. Just use some glue to stick it back.

I'm using an original nemesis. The delrin stayed intact.

Yeap. Put some epoxy, no more problem. It doesn't fix it there permanently though, still have a chance to come off as the epoxy doesn't adhere to brass and delrin properly. ._.
