PLEASE STOP!!!

(1) We were asked to WAIT for CASAA to issue some guidance on what we should do and when.

(2) The petition contains false statements. The very first sentence is FALSE. The FDA has only PROPOSED regulations.

(3) The petition is poorly worded and contains spelling, grammar, and syntax errors. It doesn't help us if it reads as if it was written by a third-grader.

I understand how you feel; we're all _____ (nervous, scared, angry). But we can't go off half-cocked on our own with a petition here and a letter there. We need to put forth a unified effort and we need to do it intelligently.

Please don't sign the petition. WAIT for CASAA's guidance.

If you're not a member of CASAA, please join. If you are a member, please donate!

Thank you Ms.P. This petition concerns me as well. I know it's really difficult not to panic when it feels like something you care deeply about is about to be ripped out of your hands, but we've got 75 days to fight the proposed FDA regulations. And as Ms.P. pointed out, we've got experts on our side to guide us - CASAA.

So, I also implore folks to wait for guidance from CASAA and their experts before taking these individual measures. United we stand, divided we fall. Let's take our lead from folks who understand the ins and outs of the regulatory process and how things get done in DC so we can make the best case for vapers' rights. This is not a game for "amateurs" (that's why the big guys have lawyers and lobbyists) and we've got to do this in the most effective way possible to ensure our voices are heard. Please, please don't read this as criticism. I understand where you're coming from and that we all have a need and a right to make our voices heard in a matter that affects each of us so deeply and so personally.

One final comment. The President can't veto a proposed regulation. Only Congress can do that, it's really complicated and it's only been done once ever. How do I know that? I'm a lawyer.

STOP, AT LEAST READ THE PAGE YOUR ON ON FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. SOMEONE TELLS YOU ON THIS PAGE WHY NOT TO KEEP DOING THIS!!!!

The FDA is a part of the executive branch. The president is a part of the executive branch. Congress passes laws, which is an action of the legislative branch and subject to veto powers.

Not everyone reads the full thread before doing what was asked. It was not until my post on page four where someone asked people to reconsider, followed by a post shortly after on page five. If you didn't read the whole thread, you simply saw a bunch of 'done' and 'just did thanks!'. Peer pressure exacerbates when the thread title reads "Urgent!!! Must read...must sign!!!".

Everyone can and should write to their representatives in congress(house and senate). I personally know my rep in the house and the copy and paste letters go straight to the trash. Tell them your personal story and feelings, maybe mention horror stories of friends or family that might have been saved if they had switched to vaping. Then add the copy and paste CASAA will come out with after you give a personal heartfelt commentary. And please, unlike those who oppose us...be honest! There is no need to sensationalize this and stoop to their level. Go ahead and sign up at the biggovt .com site mentioned above and be ready to sign when the CASAA petition drops. If you wondering how the white house responds to petitions check this https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/deport-justin-bieber-and-revoke-his-green-card/ST1yqHJL This is just my Dumas s opinion. Keep up the good fight fellow vapers!

Yeah. The first problem I had with this one was the panic of "We only have tonight!" expressed by the OP. Huh? - that would be a first for a We The People petition - having to obtain 100,000 signatures in less than two hours. In their unfounded panic someone didn't even get the time frame correct for how long you have to obtain signatures for a petition. It's 30 days - not 30 minutes.

Let the cat herding begin before someone hurts themselves. Getting whipped into a tizzy at this point isn't helping.

Sorry to say but meeting the level doesn't mean much. I just means they will take a look at it. The likely response will be a boilerplate "Thanks but, ahhhh, no". Regardless who holds the office. Again, sorry, but you have to keep expectations tempered. This fight is just beginning.

Well I'll be dipped! I already received a response from Mitch Zellers office. Not a boilerplate response either... I was basically "Thanks but, ahhhh, no" though.
