This bill has zero chance of being considered by the Senate Finance Committee.

Durbin's press release (stating the bill would also apply to e-cigs) is at
Press Release | Press Releases | Newsroom | U.S. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois

But I think it's very important for vapers to contact their US Senators to urge opposition to SB 450 (because it would tax lifesaving vapor products at the same rate as lethal cigarettes) while also urging their Senators to oppose the FDA's proposed "deeming regulation" that those same left wing Democrat Senators urged the FDA to propose and recently urged FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg to issue a Final Rule before the end of April at:
Senate Group Urges FDA to Regulate Electronic Cigarettes - U.S. Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts

Unlike S. 450, the "deeming regulation" (that would ban >99.9% of vapor products now on the market, and give the vapor industry to Big tobacco) could very well be imposed by Obama's FDA (as it doesn't need Congressional approval).

If I recall correctly this bill is introduced every year. As of yet it has always failed. I agree it has zero chance of passing.

You don't have to read very far into that bill to hope that Bill is right...
This better not have any chance of passing.

And the deeming which determines what will be considered a 'tobacco product'....

".--Any product not otherwise described
under this section that has been determined to be a tobacco product by
the Food and Drug Administration
through its authorities under the
Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act shall be taxed at a
level of tax equivalent to the tax rate for cigarettes
on an estimated
per use basis as determined by the Secretary."

This...

".--Any product not otherwise described
under this section that has been determined to be a tobacco product by
the Food and Drug Administration
through its authorities under the
Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act shall be taxed at a
level of tax equivalent to the tax rate for cigarettes
on an estimated

... in and of itself is Disturbing.

Because I would hate to so a Bill like this get Whittled Down into a Passable form without the Removal of this paragraph.
