What I wonder is if this is going to be retroactive or just sales from March on.One thing that's disturbing. Starting in March 2021, retailers have to keep a record of your name, address, and what you purchased to report to the state. I read this on Vaping 360:
- Send each taxing state’s tax administrator a list of all transactions with customers in their state, including the names and addresses of each customer sold to, and the quantities and type of each product sold

I got caught-up in this with cigarettes I bought online from reservations and got hit for thousands of dollars in back taxes, interest and penalties.
Fingers crossed or I'med. Many of us are, in fact.
We don't know. I am certainly concerned about it given what happened to smokers that bought from reservations. What does that mean? Are you saying they could make anyone who bought vape stuff pay back taxes on it?

If...
- Stores are made to report all past sales prior to March 2021 and...
- Your state has a sales/use tax that you didn't pay and/or
- Your state has a vapor tax you didn't pay (this would be applicable only to those products that are taxable as per the vapor tax in your state but the sales tax would be applicable to all products)
This is crazy!! They can shove that up their ...!
Well, I agree, but they will get if from you one way or another. Trust me.
How is that even legal, because these taxes were not around until now?
Sales/use taxes have been around for a long time and as far as vapor taxes, many of the states that have vapor taxes have had them for many years now already.
My state so far only taxes eliquid (all of the components combined not the individual products before “making eliquid” )... which I have not purchased since 2013 or 2014.
So if my state only taxes eliquid and started in 2016, and I have not bought eliquid since 2013 or 2014 then there would be nothing for me to pay? Am I understanding that correctly? Also on my states site about bills and taxes passed it says the business selling the eliquid is responsible for collecting that tax and turning it in when a customer purchases it.
