the lefties make me laugh.

All they see is a possible market for millions of smokers to go to without getting the sin tax out of them.

"Oregon Attorney General John Kroger, a Democrat, reached a settlement in August with retailers and distributors not to sell them."
anyone know what kind of settlement happened??

right. democrats or "lefties" don't use pv's.

For those of you who made the comment that e-cigarettes are a "harmless alternative" to smoking tobacco. I will grant you that there are fewer carcinogens in the e-cigs, however nicotine is itself harmful. It is a vasoconstrictor (Shrinks blood vessels) which increased blood pressure and pulse rate and it increasing the clotting of the blood. Nicotine, over long periods of time, can also increase LDL (bad) cholesterol. All of these can lead to an increase in high blood pressure, headaches, strokes and clots.
Just because it's not tobacco does not mean it's harmless.

Many people believe that nicotine causes heart disease, cancer, and lung disease. Actually these diseases are caused by the tar, carbon monoxide, heavy metals, particulates, and thousands of toxins in the smoke. Nicotine raises blood pressure slightly and temporarily. So does exercise. What is important to know is that nicotine does not cause the disease called hypertension. Nor does exercise. Apparently it is the smoke, not the nicotine component that causes cholesterol problems. Over 13,000 people signed the Electronic Cigarette Petition and left comments. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/keep-life-saving-electronic-cigarettes-available Thousands have successfully substituted electronic cigarettes for their tobacco cigarettes and are reporting that their blood pressure has gone down, as have their cholesterol numbers. They are reporting improved lung function. So if first-hand vapor is causing all of these improvements to health, does it make any sense to fear that second-hand vapor will be harmful? For more information about nicotine, see http://www.tobaccoharmreduction.org/faq/nicotine.htm#40

My comment in USA Today article:

It appears from comments on personal vaporizer use (aka e-cig) that this is no longer a health issue, or a financial concern about health care for smokers, or an issue about second hand smoke. Nope...this has become an attempt to eliminate a BEHAVIOR! Are we really going to ignore the apparent benefit gained from smokers no longer inhaling the thousands of chemicals in smoked tobacco? Are we going to discount the reported billions of dollars that will be saved on health care for smokers? Are we not interested in determining if the vapor from PV's is harmless?

Would it not be advantageous for the public to give this product a chance to help those who cannot quit smoking? Would it not save untold billions of dollars for some basic research to be done to see if this is a viable option? We know without a doubt that traditional smoking cessation products do not work well long term and for all people. Maybe this will. But we will never know if it is prohibited because the appearance of smoking offends the sensibilities of some. Does anyone really think a person should die because we don't like a personal habit? I for one, would not wish death on anyone because of such an inconsequential thing. I cannot stand poor table manners, heavy perfume use, those who blow their noses in public and a few other obnoxious behaviors, but I don't want the offender to die because I took offense at his action.

Smoker have more choices than quit or die. Please don't condemn a huge group of people to a horrible death because you don't have a clear understanding of the problems associated with cigarette addiction.

Like this article or not, it was in print and got the main stream viewers attention. Since this article, there has been a start of dissenting opinions towards the anti smoking zealots.

Hopefully others will pick up on it and follow with their own dissenting views. People are finally seeing the hypocricy of groups like ASH.
