Hi there,

Is there anyway anybody can help me calculate my usage over a day in terms of mg of nicotine and perhaps costs based on the following:

- in 1 day I filled 8 carts with 45 drops of 24mg e juice

so how much nicotine do you think I would have had in that one day?
how many ml of juice do you think that would equate to?
how many analogues have I not smoked? How much money do you think I saved?

Thanks for your help in advance..

Cheers

P.S. If there is anything else you can conclude from that I would be grateful

45 drops is about 2mls so 48 mgs of nic. Carts hold some juice so around 44 mgs if you vaped it all. Assume 1.5 mgs per cig now that would be about 29 regular smokes if your body absorbed all the nic. Which it doesn't. How much money you save is how many smokes you did not consume less the cost of juice (and hardware). Conclusion is you will know how much to vape to keep you off smokes and if you vape instead of smoking you will feel better. I know I do.

We absorbs somewhere between 10%-40% of the nicotine that we use when we vape. We'll assume that you absorbed 40%. So if you used about 40-50mg of nicotine, then you absorbed about 16-20mg of nicotine. Most cigarettes contain between 1-3mg of nicotine absorbed.

If your old brand gave about 2mg per cigarette (that's about average) then you vaped the equivalent of half a pack.

as for this question: "how many analogues have I not smoked? How much money do you think I saved?"
It depends, how many did you used to smoke per day? As for savings: most vapers use about 3ml per week and 30ml will cost about $15, so the average vaper spends about $1.50 per day in e-liquid. Most vapers used to smoke about a pack a day or so, if you used to smoke a pack a day and it cost $5.50 (really depends on where you live) then you save about $4 per day in e-liquid.

Of course, then you have to buy parts too. To factor that in you can assume that the average smoker spending $100 a month in cigarettes (that's cheap!) can expect to spend about $20 a month in spare parts and $45 a month in e-liquid.. $65 a month total, a $35 per month savings....

UNLESS you DIY your own e-liquid in which case, let's face it, you're just spending it on vaping toys and gadgets instead!

I've been vaping for close to a year and my banner is about accurate, I've saved $600 vaping this year.

wow I had no idea you could conclude all that from vaping lol

take alook at this

on my analogue cigs is says 0.9mg of nicotine, is that per cig or per pack?

Is this right? am I vaping more then I used to smoke? so actually taking in more nicotine? slightly panicing if I need to reduce vaping now...It appears that I am having 37% more nicotine by vaping...Im confused, can some advise???

please help - thanks

It's per cig. How many did you used to smoke per day? And don't forget that you aren't absorbing all of it! You may only be absorbing 10%.

Here's how I figure it: nobody pays attention to the alcohol content in what we drink, right? All we know is that 5 martini's get us drunker than 5 beers.

The nicotine content/ absorption is different in eCigs than in tobacco cigs. Vape until you feel the same as you did when you smoked and thats how you know that you are getting the right amount.

If you are nauseous, cold sweats, jittery feeling then you are getting too much.. If you are craving a cigarette all the time then you aren't getting enough. If you feel pretty normal, then you are getting the right amount.

Here are some nicotine facts that may ease your concern:

• nicotine is not a carcinogen - it does NOT cause cancer
• nicotine is only a stimulant, it works much like caffeine
• nicotine is NOT very addictive on it's own - it becomes addictive when you add the stuff that comes in tobacco cigarettes. Even if you raise your nicotine intake, you likely will NOT become more addicted.

Good luck :)

Re read what what Rosa said, your body doesn't absorb nicotine as well from vaping as it did from smoking. Cigarettes contain ammonia which causes the nicotine to cross into the blood stream through the lungs instantly. The vapor has nothing like that at all.
My wife is at the same as you, she has a 37% increase in her nicotine intake, and she still wants to smoke at times. All that were going for is to minimize the desire to smoke, so if you bump it up to 50% more it's ok! As long as you don't want to smoke!

thanks for your reply and those facts, they are most useful

I use to smoke 20 analogues a day and each analogue contained 0.9mg

I got the 37% from that calculator above as shown in my link, the details you see in that image are what I entered and it gave me the calculation that I get 37% more nicotine intake...After your post Rosa I am delighted to learn that I actually dont absorb all of it.

When vaping I feel I am getting more then enough, I usually take 10 - 12 puffs to satisfy my craving then put it down for an hour to two before picking it up again..I feel like I am smoking less in general if I compare the amount of time spent vaping VS the amount of times I spent smoking analogues..

You know how it is, you start something new, you dont smell, you feel healthier, everythings great then you use the calculator and alarm bells start ringing because you expect to see a decrease but you actually don't. I guess the calculator does not take into consideration all the facts i.e. ammonia and other poisions in analogues, money saved etc

Hello,
I used to smoke 0.4mg cigarettes, about a pack/day, that's 20x0.4 = 8mg/day, now I vape about 1,5-2ml/day a mix of 11mg PG and 18mg VG (Dekang) so aprox 2x15=30mg/day. That's 4 times the dose. And I feel ok. No sweat, heart rush or anything...
I started with 24mg VG Boge liquid, felt much more "smoked", but my throat was sore, maybe from high nicotine, maybe from lower quality liquid, who knows...

I know. I wanted to do this "stages of vaping" post once outlining it all:

• discovery: you see it, google it
• denial: you decide it's probably a hoax or a scam
• amazement: you try it and it works!
• apprehension: you figure there must be a catch (are these things going to kill me?)
• exploration: you spend time researching the ingredients and learn about chemistry
• outrage: (how could the tobacco industry do this to us?!) you write letters to your congressman
• evangelism: you begin telling every smoker you see about them and trying to help the newbies on ECF
• acceptance: You settle into your new life and non-smoking journey (aka buying gadgets), all's well
