2 questions:
1. How long is the cable on the V4L USB Manual Passthru? 6 inches long.. a foot long?

2. The current USB interface is version 2.0
My pc is a little older and I have the previous USB interface version 1.0.
Will the V4L USB Manual Passthru work in USB interface version 1?

I'm guessing it will because the only difference between USB ver. 1 and ver. 2 is
ver. 2 transfers data a little faster.

Thanks

The cable is mostly straight, with a section on the plug-end which is coiled. With the coiled-portion not stretched out at all, the entire cable is 4 feet long. The coiled section can be stretched out, to add about an additional 3 feet. All in all, it's pretty darn long, and coiling one section of it is pretty smart.

Don't know about power from a USB 1.0 for sure, but I'm pretty sure you're right - I don't think power output changed with the new 2.0.

I highly doubt it's 1.0. I think I've only ever seen one or two 1.0 devices in the wild. It's more likely it's 1.1.

The power was so limited on 1.x that it didn't even support extension or active monitoring. 2.0 with Battery Charging Spec rev 1.1 (early 2007) allowed for high-current devices.

The BCS ammended in the first quarter of 2009 allowed for up to 1.8A. It wasn't distributed as part of the 2.0 spec though - it's part of 3.0, although there are forward compatible 1.8A rev 2.0 USB ports, which is why the low resistance cartomizers work on some 2.0 ports and not others...

The upshot is - no. You're not getting more than 500mA out of it if you're lucky. More likely a max of 180mA, about 1/10th what we'd want to see for a high current premium cartomizer.

An AC adapter is your best bet.

Thanks for the advice - My problem is I just bought a Vapor King Manual Pass Thru. My older ver 1.0 or 1.1 USB port on my pc won't give enough current to use the passthru. Can somebody tell me what this adapter is that I need to buy - I never seen one. Whats it called? A USB-AC Adapter? Where can I get one - at Walmart?

Thanks
Steve
