USB Passthru for 510 Question

This may seem like a dumb question to some, but...

Does the passthru have any current limiting/protection circuitry built-in or is it a straight connection across 5V USB power pin?

Does it pose any danger at all to PC USB ports in the event of a shorted/defective atomizer?

Most suggest using a powered USB hub not connected to your computer. That's what I have and it works great. You can pick one up cheap too. I have battery chargers plugged into it also. I also have one of those charger kits for my iPod that will run the USB in the car too.
