Hello, all - first time posting here. :) I'd like to thank everyone who put their time and thoughts on this forum, helping me jump from analogs to e-cigs.

Technically, I'm not vaping as of yet. I'm wating my order to come through from TW - which's it's been taking its time... hope everything's okay. On the other hand, I got my Cash Juice sampler yesterday w.. no e-cig. LOL! (really, the wait is killing me.) So, I've been looking at the juice.. (can't wait to quit smoking and get on vaping.)

Anyhow... I've been lurking around the various forums, getting all the necessary tid-bits to start vaping... and came across the Screwdriver review. Larger capacity batteries to produce more vapor. Makes perfect sense.

Then I was also reading up the USB pass-through batteries for various models - and heard it does produce more vapor.

Considering the life-cycle of the normal Mini batteries are pretty short live - I was thinking if a portable USB charger, or USB battery pack could power the atomizers via USB pass-throughs? That would be a nice investment, as the larger batteries would last longer, provide better vapor and all... a win-win situation?

Only thing is you might look like you are sucking something from your jacket pocket (or wherever you put the USB battery, that is) ;)

Has anyone tried this method? I'm pretty sure I'm not the first person thought of this... ;)

Yes, there are actually tons of posts on mobile power packs for use with passthroughs.

A recent favorite according to many posts here is the Kensington. Another brand that works great is the APC, although not being made anymore so probably harder to find.

Look for any mobile power pack/USB battery pack that has a current output rating of 1000 mA or 1A, or greater. Any less than that will not be guaranteed to power your atomizer successfully.

I see... thanks for the tip. Gotta get that USB pass-through... ;)

I didn't plan to smoke indoors unless I'm totally alone (although I'm aware that it doesn't have 2nd hand smoking effects) but I'm just little cautious the residue of nicotine when I exhale, might get on to something and affect my baby daughter - so I skipped out the USB pass-throughs, but it will definitely be on my next shopping list.

1000 MA or 1A batteries... got it! :)

I've posted this before, but I'll say it again now:

If you are using a pass-through with an in-line battery, you don't need a 1A power pack.

I have a cheapie Lenmar power pack... it cost $15. It's output is only 700mA. You can't directly power a pass-through with it, but it's fine with the in-line battery type. The e-cig draws it's power from the in-line battery, and the in-line battery recharges from the pack. 700mA is more than enough to recharge the battery.

Not batteries. "Current output" (listed in milliamps or Amps as above) is what you are looking for. Most mobile power packs will have that listed somewhere in their tech specs.

That is a different rating than what you normally see for battery capacity, which is listed in milliamp hours, or mAh.

Oh, and Walrus, that may be true for the in-line battery type passthroughs, but not everybody buys that kind, as they also require their own special switches (either manual or auto), and are thus themselves a tad more costly than the passthoughs without the in-line battery.

So I think it's best to make sure people do know the amperage required for a regular passthrough.

The only one I've seen that requires a separate switch is Janty's. The ones sold by Eastmall and Vapornine (amongst others) are just like the others, but with the battery box. Yep, they cost a little more... well, not Eastmall's... it's actually cheaper... $15. In the long run though, they are cheaper... $20 for 700mA output + $25 for in-line battery pass-through = $45. $50 for Kensington + $20 for regular pass-through = $70.

Much thanks. I just picked up on my way home. Maybe 2 dollar difference in tax in NYC and where I am - but no waiting! :D

but... my e-cig still hasn't come yet. I got juice, usb pass through should be here by monday, and all - but I'm not even sure when the e-cig itself would come... :( (Ordered from TW USA... and I think they might have dropped the ball for my order.)

I’d like to buy one of the RN4081 pass-throughs but have a question.
I saw a couple on different sites, but none have good pictures. Does anyone know if any place sells the USB pass through that has a manual switch for the RN4081? I am worried I will buy it, then gum it up with juice otherwise. Also, do any of the RN4081’s have the inline battery?

Thanks in advance!
