USB Passthrough help

Hey!

Sooo I have a question (of course :3) I'm usually on the computer for about 15 hours a day between working at home and other stuff. I
had a 808 passthrough since that's the type I use. I mean, I could get another 808- but is there something better? Is there that much of a difference with the passthroughs? I don't mind getting an adapter for my 808 cartomizers at all.

Oh, and I don't want to pay eleventy billion dollars.

Thanks!

A true passthrough (no inline battery) is a true inline passthrough, running around 4.8 - 5V. No functional difference if it is an 808 connector or a 510 connector.

I'd recommend getting, and using, a 2A USB power supply, if you don't already have one, and not connecting to your PC USB port -- basically $10 avoids possibly damaging your PC. The Walmart online IQ dual 2A USB is a good one, there are others available.

Okay cool. So I should just get the same one I did last time? There's 100% not a better hit or anything depending on what type it is? I mean when it comes to batteries everyone's always like ohh get this not that blahhh haha.

Psy- Non-sequitor- Is that a Johnny I see?! And yes, I think the usbpassthrough definitely kicks the batteries less vapor making tuchus.

ALSO I have just plug mine into the wall. I have one of those handy usbwallthingies that has enough stuff to make it work without breaking it :3

(I didn't sleep last night... So my words make not good as usual)

Yes, no difference, since all true passthroughs are providing you the USB voltage (typically up at 4.8 - 5V).
Varying the cartomizer or atomizer can change things of course, though you should stay at 2.5 ohms or more (even a dedicated 2A power supply can only drive a 2.5 ohm atty/carto; it may "work" at lower resistance, but that is over-driving the power supply, not a good thing to do). I use 3 - 3.4 ohms at 5V, which means up around 8 watts power -- nice warmth, vapor. Lower ohms just gets too hot for me -- tends to wreck the flavor of the eliquid.

Typically the PTs are all either 3.7v or 5v and if you want an experience like your KR8 w/the same cartos then you want 3.7 volt. 5v is much hotter and may singe your cartos. There is also a 3-stage Ego passthrough that you 5-click to go from 3.2 to 3.7 to 4.2 and that would be real nice with an adapter (see Gotvapes.com I think). 4.2 is what a KR8 battery is briefly fresh off the charger.

But don't hook those up to your PC!! I like these - 2amps so you can EITHER use a PT OR charge up to 4 batteries. Don't do both at once. the 2amp is divided between the needs of the 4 USB ports and the others will fluctuate in power if you are using a PT on it. So do one or the other - PT or charging.

5 volt vaping does not produce hot vapor but instead produces warmer vapor. Many of us vape 5 volt devices all the time without harming the carto in any way. As always recommended, just keep the carto moist.

Your bias against 5 volt vaping keeps croping up.

Not true at all. In fact a 3 ohm SR carto @ 5v will out last a 2 ohm LR carto @3.7v about 5 to 1.

Also the pass through we are talking about doesn't have a battery.

My last passthrough was a 5v and work fine with my cartos... Until my cats messed with it and chewed on the internal wiring after pulling it out D:< Then it started burning the, while I was trying to fix it. I was hoping to order another from vaporsetc and even had Ross fix the sire so I could... But it turns out he doesn't take American Express. Heh. Oh wait, nevermind, as I'm typing he's putting up with my needy behaviour. Fantastic.

I just wanted to say thanks for clearing everything up for me! I can't understand electricaltype stuff at all. Well, other than the fact that I needed a big number charger haha. But yeah, I've written it off as man stuff. XD
