Hello!

I just got my manual USB passthrough for my 808 and its amazing! so much vapor! it completely changed my vaping experience! I can't imagine not having one now!

but theres a problem.... I wanna see if any of you have any ideas.

I use a Macbook Pro laptop and I had my passthrough plugged in, was watching a DVD and was good for a couple hours or so until all of a sudden I get the "usb over current power" notice and it says its going to shut down the USB port. I immediately unplug the passthrough and try my flash drive in the port and it works just fine. Freaked me out quite a bit though. I am scared to use the PT again, but I like it so much! I've never gotten a notice on my laptop like that before and I just had a faulty motherboard replaced. I wonder if it is a common problem or could be related to my new motherboard. Or the PT is drawing too much power. I didn't have anything else plugged in, but I was using the optical drive to watch a dvd.

Any ideas or suggestions would be very welcome!! Thanks so much everyone!

Whoa! crazy!

I'm getting my PT tomorrow. I have a Macbook Pro as well. I will see how it runs for me and post my findings here. Mine is a 510 PT from Cignot. What a drag! I hope this ends up being a fluke for you, as for me, we shall see.

Dangit, this bums me out to hear that, I was so excited for my PT to arrive. Not so much anymore. *think positive*

Keep that MBP safe! :)
There's reports somewhere of people having motherboards fail as a result of passthroughs drawing too much "stuff"(current? power? something.)
Get a plug that goes in one of your outlets that has a USB port(s) on it. A powered USB hub can work fine too. The usb power adapter also works, that comes with iPods/etc(you might have one, looks like this
attachment.php
).

Best to stay safe I guess. I use a 2amp usb power adapter made for gps devices, I picked up on ebay for $10. I will not harm my Macbook with my vaping. :)

There used to be a super cheap awesome one at USB Power Adapter but he no longer sells them. There are many kinds of these things that will work with our devices just make sure the output is at least 1amp(1000 mah). My iPhone's worked w/ my passthrough and it's output is 1 amp. If you find one that is supposed to power a gps device(or iPhone) you're probably golden. Those things need lots of power.
You may need an extension cable for the passthrough to the adapter. ;)
Good luck.

Thanks so much TJ! Jimmy and I are grateful! I would be heartbroken if something happened to my lappie!

I have an ipod adapter of course... its at work though.

What about the wall charger that comes with your e-cig battery?? thats got a USB port on it. Is it enough or no?

yeah now I have to find an extension cord or something... its so convenient to have it plugged in so close to me, but I am not willing to risk it.

Just found this one. says the output is 5V. And it comes with wall and car adaptors. $12.42 out the door.

USB ADAPTER

The output is always 5v, that's the spec for USB. :) The number you're looking for is a mah rating, either in amps or mah(milliamp hours)
Looking at it, it'll most likely work. :)

The battery chargers w/ USB ports on them have never powered any of my passthroughs.(this is re: to geekgirl's question)

The one with my link says it works for Iphone but it doesn't have an amp rating or mah. What do you think? I'd love to use it in the car too, how sweet would that be!!

Looking at it, it'll most likely work. These things aren't exact sciences to me, I know what I got works for me. :) Shoot them an email asking them on the output amps. Since this thing charges iphones and gps devices you're most likely good to go.
:)
