I really need to know if I can use a USB port with 1 amp output to charge up my Ego batts. The standard ego wall adapter only outputs half that at 500 mah.

I have seen a converter at Target that you just plug into your cig lighter/power supply in your car and it has a USB port for charging up various electronic devices. Of course it did not mention Ecigs.

I'm just wondering if the 1 amp output would be too much for the ego charger, or does the ego charger only draw the amperage it needs and not the full 1 amp.

The 'output' on the eGo charger itself is rated at 420mA, so that is what you will get regardless of how much higher your plug is rated. Although there are some plugs that are rated 100mA - 300mA and you wouldn't want to use those.

You likely know this but don't use the regular 510 usb charger to charge an eGo or an eGo charger to charge a 510 batt.
