A good rule for anyone looking to buy on the classys is, if you find something you like, research it. If you go to the original website and they are new for cheaper, buy it new.

If you are like me and a super impulse buyer and have to have something that cannot be obtained any other way, expect to pay a premium.

If you see something overpriced and don't want to buy it, giggle and move on with your life.

You will be much happier if you don't spend so much time worrying what others are doing.

Did you even read the thread?

I am NOT trying to start a flame war but it seems to me that since the rules were changed for the classifieds, there has been a surge of listings for mods that are going for more than they are new. I realize that for some reason e-cig gear holds its resale value more than anything I have ever seen before, but, these listings for things that are going for $20-30 MORE than new are downright ridiculous and quite possibly the worst thing that could happen to the community. When I first found this forum I embraced it for being so welcoming and accepting but it seems like there are more and more people who are doing nothing but trying to make a quick buck. I'm not talking about rare, one-off or discontinued devices. Being a musician for years upon years has taught me the value of things like that well before I even knew what an electronic cigarette was. Maybe I'm the only one but in my eyes, it just seems like profiteering is running rampant these days and it completely debases the whole reason why I was here in the first place: the vibrant community. I would love to hear opinions on how/why people think this is acceptable.

So what would your suggestion be to the fix? Price capping? I'm not being sarcastic or trying to be rude, as I do agree with you. But I can't think of a way to fix it. I just don't pay the price.

With that being said I have also saved around $70 on some high end mods buying used. So there are good deals out there.

Do you have any ideas on a fix? I'd love to discuss that as most of us have agreed that some mods are being priced to high.

I wish I had a solution. I'm not saying there should be more regulation in the classifieds. I don't know, though. As I've said in the thread, it just bothers me to see people trying to get over on each other.

Would we be so forgiving if someones recommendation on the new members forum was for a $120 KR808 kit? Such a recommendation would probably be buried under negative responses and links to better units or similar units for less money.

However knowing the above to be true we find it perfectly ok that while on the rest of this forum you get flamed for directing people to junk on the classified forum you get flamed for pointing out the junk someone else is selling. This is a dead horse however no matter how you beat on it.

Perhaps this kind of thread pops up weekly-I don't know, this is the first dedicated one I've come across. ECF is so BIG there are still many areas of the forum I haven't entered yet. I have to say though, this thread peaked my interest, as it was a thought that ran through my mind many a time. I'm still relatively new here, been vaping for 6 months now~wow can't believe it's been that long!

As a new vaper, many of the posts in the new member forum encourage us to use the classies to buy equipment and juice at a reduced cost, to find the hardware and flavors we will like. As any new member, I followed that advice. I had that classified thread open permanently on my browser for about 5 months. I checked the offers every darn day. The end result is, I have never made a purchase from the classies. And it is exactly for the reason described in this thread.

If I am going to buy equipment used, I expect to pay a used price. To me, that would be a minimum of 30% off retail. If the cost savings is 10-20 %, screw it, I'd rather buy new. Now I'm not talking about GG's here, nor collectors editions. As a new vapor I was looking at stocking up on ego type batts, attys, perhaps a silver bullet. As far as juice was concerned, my standard was Bounty Hunter. Love the stuff. If I can buy a new 30ml bottle of that yummy juice from NLV for 10 bucks, then I sure as heck am not paying $10/30ml or higher, for used juice.

I just set my limits, on what I felt was appropriate for me to spend for the items I was looking for. I'm not saying there aren't deals to be found on the classies. Many times I saw people pricing their items fairly. Good luck actually buying any of them if you don't live on ECF though!:)

Perhaps I would feel differently if I had tons of disposable income to spend buying up all kinds of shiny new mods. But honestly, even if I did have that kind of fun money-I'd rather buy new than be gouged by the prices I saw offered on many items.

End result, I built my own mod and am very happy with it. Course that end up costing a heck of a lot more than the $12 bucks it was supposed to! But that's another story. Eventually I'll try building something else as well. And my dabbling in DIY has led to a juice I can vape all day every day.

We can't change the fact that there are people out there looking to make a buck off the backs of their comrads. Nor can we stop the poor folks who allow themselves to be taken. The only thing we can do is vote with our own wallets.

I will say though, that I wish members were a little more informative when encouraging new vapors to utilize the classifieds. It hasn't been that long for me, so I remember the frustration of trying to learn all this stuff-and there is a HEAP of stuff to be learned about vaping. When your brain is still in that whirlwind of frazzle that comes with joining this experience-it's really easy to get taken because you are essentially clueless. And that is really not the fault of the new vaper. So I hate to see the "buyer beware" just tossed out there as if they're suckers. I guess I would just like to see the experienced members offer some words of caution to new members on how to use the classifieds to their best advantage.....:2c:
