Using non imr batteries

I have trust fire 18650s that I'm using with my LT. Now reading that's a no-no.

Is it dangerous for the device or just not peak performance? I'm using 1.5 dc cartos at 3.7 until my boge 3.0 sc order arrived.

Well if they are protected and you try to over drain them the protection circuit will kick in and shut them down. I don't think it's dangerous as long as they are protected but they will be a bit long with the protection circuit and the cap won't go on all the way. Is this the TrustFire Protected 18650 Battery, 2400 mah you have? if so it's protected..I've heard mixed results with some saying the protection kicks in others saying it works ok.

be aware that the lavatube could pull 5 amps or more max, well over the safe current range of an icr battery

It is protected. Bottom cap closes with a small gap left. Fires every time regardless of voltage. But seems to self regulate at anything over 4.0v. Just wanted to make sure I wouldn't damage the device. I've got 2 aw imrs on order from lighthound. 1600 mah versions. Button top. They should fit, right?

Yep these AW IMR18650 1600mAh LiMN rechargeable lithium battery should work just fine. Make sure you test them after you charge them to make sure your charger doesn't overcharge them like the warning at the bottom of that link says.
