Figured to share what I found that works really well.
The problem I've had for so long was the cotton creeps in around the coil and slows the air flow to the point where the hit sucks. I was ready to give up re-building the throw away stock coils until.............
I recently got these notch coils from fast tech. $2.60 316L Stainless Steel Notch Coil Wire for RBA Atomizers - 0.5ohm / 10 pcs at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
The above are .5 ohm. Below are .2 ohm.
$2.82 316L Stainless Steel Notch Coil Wire for RBA Atomizers (10-Pack) 10-pack - 0.2ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
I was concerned about the size Fast Tech descripts them to be, 5mm round, 8.7mm in height. Well they work perfect. These are the key to fixing my air flow problem. They work very well with the stock beast coils as well as the melo 2 coils.
Any stock coil that have the 3 to 5 mm positive pin, and these notch coils will work fine.
As for the Kangertech coils with there positive pin at about 2 to 3 mm wide, NOT SO GOOD. But all the bigger/fatter coils fit the notch coil very well.
Cotton wraps around the coil with no issues. They fire up nicely and last longer then my wire build coils.

At .28 - .26 cents a coil, I'm a fan.

Work well in cleito's as well. I used to always use notch coils but they are expensive. Still have a bunch in my coil box. Now I use duel wrapped 316LSS in 26G. 5MM and they come out to .36 ohms. Wife vapes three Melo 2 tanks so I rebuild lots of them.

I read your reply and was wondering where you were getting them & what you were paying for the notch coils.
I feel .28 cents a coil to be very fair. Fact is,,, I just opened the Melo 2 after 30-40 ml of juice to find the coil was completely covered in burnt residue. ( My Sweet Juice no doubt.) I gently ran hot water over the coil, ( while it was screwed to the base.) Then carefully removed the notch coil, removed the dirty / foul cotton, Torched the notch coil a bit, then re-wrapped new cotton round the coil and re-fitted it back into the housing.
All went together well. No re-cutting the Pos/Neg leads. And the coil is running as brand new.
Great Flavor... Nice Clouds...( This notch coil was 1 of the .2 ohm coils.. It comes in reading at .24 ohm. )
At this rate, after a second re-wicking, it cost .14 cents (+ cotton ) for each new coil.
I'm thinking I should be able to repeat these steps every 5 days to get that new coil Taste, Flavor & Vape. ( Possibly half a dozen times, if not more. )
Will post back with the next recycling of this notch coil.

Just came across this thread, I use Tobeco super tanks and I think they're the same coils as Melo 2. Do you have a video on how to rebuild, as I've not been able to find the notch coils anywhere either and was wondering if they can be built.
Hello Drop.....
I use the Notch coil with 1 wrap of THICK MATTED cotton round it.
Slide into coil housing from the bottom. Take the time to make sure the cotton stays as a nice single wrap around the coil,,,, and centered.
The 0.5 ohm coils read (0.54) after completed.
The single thick wrap of cotton wicks perfectly.
The air flow never tightens up, like so many of my wire built coils when the cotton encroaches the coil.
And 35 watts seems to be my preferable setting.
Nice clouds. Nice Flavor. And can be carefully torched clean and re-wicked after a few weeks.
Never take the coil housing completely apart, ( so as to remove the thin cotton sheet between the inner and outer coil housing pieces. ) That method never helps to re-build a great coil.

Not familiar with the Tobeco Tanks. I researched to find it's compatible with the Atlantis Tanks.
Atlantis and Melo 2 coils are similar in size, but not interchangeable.
I'm sure the .5 0r .2 ohm notch coils will fit and work in the Atlantis coil heads.

From what I understand, atlantis, melo and tobeco coils are all interchangeable. I even bought Vaporesso euc coils and they work in the tobeco tank. Those may be easier to rebuild perhaps? Although they say ceramic, I think I will try open one and report back.

Thanks so much, I have a couple of old coils Ive just kept...let me try and rebuild.

Just for clarity, one wrap means the leg coming from the top of the coil is not covered by cotton?

Sorry I'm getting back so late, been busy.
1 wrap of the cotton. Keep it thick, but just 1 wrap.
And its ok to let the negative lead touch the housing on the outside of the cotton.

Thanks so much. Tried rebuilding today with a 3.5mm coil, too narrow for me.

Will wait for my notch coils to show up and try again.

Wonder if its possible to rebuld these:

$8.08 (Free Shipping) Authentic Vaporesso Ceramic EUC Coil Head (5-Pack) (Ceramic EUC, 0.5ohm, 5-Pack (w/ sleeve)) at m.FastTech.com
They last me a long time with the sweet juice i like. The wire coils tend to gum up in half the time.
As for re-building with a used notch coil,,, you have to be very careful when removing, but yes, it can be done.
After getting it out , I torch/burn it clean, straighten the neg & pos leads and use it again.

Finally managed to rebuild using notch coils and one wrap cotton as advised by @Gahh .

Thank you so much for your assistance!! Working like a charm in tc mode, nice sharp flavour (rather different from stock coils, similar to vaporesso euc ss coil).

But I feel my Aegis doesn't hit 420F correctly. Seems underestimated.
