I'm sure there are folks who re-built a stock coil, weather it be a smok beast (or) Melo 2 using a notch coil.
I ordered a few of these from fasttech.
$2.60 316L Stainless Steel Notch Coil Wire for RBA Atomizers - 0.5ohm / 10 pcs at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
This one comes as .5 ohm and 5mm Inside Diameter.
Others I ordered are .28 ohm. But they all have the 5mm I/S Diameter.
Hoping that wont be to big when I use it to re-build a stock coil. I know 5mm will fit into the coil housing of the smok coils, as well as the Melo & Kt OCC. But will I be able to get sufficient cotton around it and get it to fit.
Does anyone have experience with these coils?
Appreciate any ideas......

Considering how thin the material is, I would say that 5mm is not as big as you might think. A clapton wire with a 26g core and a 32g wrap would likely be the same size if you wrapped it on a 3.5mm rod.
True. But that would be the OD, ( outside diameter )
I took out my Pittsburgh Digital Caliper ( from Harbor Freight ) and started measuring things to get an idea of what I can expect.
The average Bic pen = 7.40mm
An average hard stick Q-tip bent in half, the 2 sticks remaining side by side measured 4.8mm
2 book matches back to back at the head = 4.8mm
So it looks like the 5mm ID on these notch coils will allow for a big airflow. And the cotton will never close in on the coil ( as I find they do on so many of my regular wound coils ) which makes for a hit getting tighter and tighter.
When these notch coils arrive I will post pictures of my experimenting the use of these notch coils in stock coils that are, ( supposedly non re-buildable )
The Kangertech Juppi uses a notch coil, ( it has no wire legs ) and this coil has lasted month after month with only the cotton being changed out. The notch coil I carefully torch clean.
