Love the pic above. My problem is not so much with USPS, but with their tracking system. Several times, at least for me, I found it to be complete garbage. Never have the issues with Fed Ex or UPS tracking.

Of course I bet if we could actually dig into the issue we would probably find they are well aware of the problems, but do not have the cash to address them.

well I worked for UPS for 10 years.. so I know how tracking works. all pkgs get scanned as they come off truck/trailer ..then scanned again as the leave bld. then scanned as they are placed at door.. theres realy no excuse for usps bad tracking

I already pay the extra (it is not three times as much, by the way). Want to know why? Because when something happens to my package, they will make it right. I can get accurate tracking data on it, it automatically updates me when it makes it to a hub, is out for delivery that day, etc.

The PO was always supposed to be self sustaining. Until recently, it was. Sure, some of the problems are because they don't have the flexibility to change like they need to, so you can blame congress for part of this. Part of it is the fact that mail is less and less necessary for many activities.

I find the idea that we should "just pay for it" to be just the sort of attitude that has us swimming in debt that my kids will have to deal with. The PO obviously needs to raise its rates so that those that are using its service are paying for the service, rather than operating at a loss and the taxpayers get stuck paying for it whether they use the USPS or not. That is not right. Of course it is cheaper than UPS, the professionals at UPS have to make a profit, so the costs are properly allocated.

Lets get with the program USPS. Cut your services, branches, whatever. Private businesses have been leaning up over the last four years to deal with the weaker economy. Just because it is a government entity does not mean it is entitled to exist as it always has.

Frankly, I think it's far more likely that your kids will be swimming in debt because companies like Facebook pay no tax, but receive hundreds of millions in refunds instead.

But you and I are supposed to hate on the Post Office?

No thanks. I'd rather see Grandmothers in the hinterland able to mail Christmas cards than see bloated corporations calling the shots on our dime.

Albeit my business is small, but I ship exclusively by USPS, and all the packages arrive on time, and the tracking has always been accurate. At least that's how it's been for me. I'd hate to have to charge the extra shipping costs if I were forced to use UPS. Not only that, UPS here is only open 1-1/2 hours in the morning, and 1-1/2 hours in the afternoon. That makes it very inconvenient for me.

What I find interesting is the information displayed on the web does not match the info I get if I call the 800 number. Calling in it tells me it departed the facility a couple of days ago. Something tells me they just have syncing issues with their web service and either can't hire people to work on refining the system, or it is not a priority for them. Could be wrong.

On another note, when I looked up the info on the web tonight I got the popup for the survey....

I have only had a couple bad instances with USPS, but I HAVE had a few and I can't deny that, but overall i'm pretty happy with them for regular deliveries. When it comes to overnight/express, FEDEX has them all beat! There's a site I used to order random stuff from sometimes (not vaping related) and they use Fedex for their overnight deliveries. Not only does it cost about $17 to have something delivered by around 10-10:30 the next morning, but you can order as late as 8PM central time. That means that, being a VA resident, I can place an order at 9PM from these guys, and Fedex will have it at my door roughly 13 hours later.... Not THAT is just spectacular! Sure that's also the vendor with the late ordering, but just the fact that I can order something at 8:59PM eastern time and it will be at my house 13 hours later, usually 15-20 minutes BEFORE the estimated arrival!!! Hot dog, that's just freaking great if you ask me! :) Their instant, satellite updated tracking is excellent as well.
