I ordered $60+ stuff from Mountain Oak Vapor, based in Cleveland TN, last weekend.
USPS tracking states:
Apr 1, 2013 Electronic Shipping Info Received
Apr 2, 2013 Delivered, Cleveland TN
USPS info has not changed since April 2. I do not live in Cleveland, TN.
I contacted vendor who told me that all shipments mailed on April 2 had the same status on USPS, that the tracking info will update once they are received by next location, and to please give the postal service the alotted time before contacting them again.

How long is the 'alotted amount of time' for USPS priority mail?
Have I lost $60 bucks? I can't find anything on their website re: policy on shipping and lost items.
I have received stuff from other vendors in 2-3 days from WA, GA and NC, never had this problem before.
What should I do?
Thanks in advance.

I placed 2 orders last Saturday, both from California, but not from the same supplier, to be shipped to North Carolina. Both showed shipping information received at USPS on Saturday. One order arrived here in NC on Monday, the other sat in California until Tuesday. I finally got on on Thursday. There might have been an Easter holiday on Monday, but I can't figure out why one shipment made it in 2 days and the other took 5 days.

The USPS works in mysterious ways...

USPS tracking is kind of useless, although I have been able to speak to post office workers in person, and they seem to have a crystal ball that tells them everything. I once shipped an item to Miami, 2 hours east of me, and asked the clerk why it hadn't been delivered for a week. Turns out they rout things all the way up to Jacksonville (6 hours north) and back, as if gas is cheap. They wonder why they're struggling to stay afloat when their logistics seems to be run by chimps.

Best thing you can do is verify they shipped to your correct address and wait. Priority isnt always the guaranteed 3 days. If USPS actually loses it, you have to wait until they find it.

I had a package "delivered" February 28, to my office, it never arrived, post office was not helpful in the least, and continues to claim that the package was delivered - at a time when I was at my office, and the carrier did NOT bring a package for me. The local post office basically called me a liar. So, yeah, unless the package was insured, you're out of luck.

If it were me, I'd only start worrying once the 7th business day had passed. As USinchains stated, 3 days isn't guaranteed. In fact, I refuse to pay for priority mail when given the option simply because it has the same exact 5 to 7 day limit before it's considered lost as standard shipping, and the tracking is useless for the most part. I have had a number of packages that didn't get tracking updates until after they showed up on my doorstep.
