Uwell Crown question

Hi All,

Just unpackaged my new uwell Crown tank and discovered a 0.15ohm TC coil.

Whilst my mod can cope with such a low resistance I’m not sure about the battery.

I’m using a Sony 18650, which I read somwhere, can only go as low as 0.2 ohms.

So my query is what battery is needed to safely run a coil this low?

Which Sony battery? I'm assuming it's a regulated mod as your wanting to go tc. It does not really matter how low the resistance is on a regulated mod (as long as your mod can fire it) as you can just lower the wattage. As long as your battery can handle the set amps.

For example you can do 0.15 ohms at 10 watts and the amp draw would be minimal, cause it's only 10 watts.

Sorry I should have said its a VTC4 30 amp. Going to use it initially on a Totally Wicked Forza VT60 which I believe is a rebranded Joytech e-Vic mini with a firmware upgrade to 70 watts

Thanks. So, as long as I'm using the calculator right, it should be ok.
Just makes me wonder why on the battery specs it states not to use it on a coil lower than 0.2 ohms.

Think that is just for mechs. Though I would still not build that low on a VTC4 with a mech. As it really is only a 20 something amp battery.

As long as your not pulling over 15amps you should be safe. Maybe more, someone else with more knowledge of the safe limits on the VTC4 could probably say.

Wait, what type of coil is your 0.15 ohm? I believe it's a Ni200, right? Make sure you use in tc for Ni200 only.

Yes your right it's a Ni200 and I'm not sure that my device can use those. I know it's can take Ni, Ti & SS. Just assumed Ni was Ni didn't realise there was a difference - Doh

Yea, it will use Ni-200 fine. Their is no other nickle wire used for tc besides Ni-200.

Exellent. Been looking up Ni200 just to check.
So using the Sony Vtc4 18650 battery I should be ok to use this 0.15 coil safely?

the ohms of the coil has no bearing of the amp draw on a regulated mod.you set the watts if the coil is within spec of the mod it will fire.to calculate a rough estimate of your amp draw divide your watts by the battery voltage for example if your mod is set to 50 watts at 3.2v you will be pulling 15.6amps from the battery............ W div by V =amps

for the most part current generation regulated mods will not let you do things considered unsafe on a mech mod.mech mods have nothing in place for safety.reg mods will stop if too hot,low volt,low res ect ect.unless there is a circuit malfuntion you really have to try hard to be unsafe on a reg
aciidents do happen and there are exceptions by they are making reg mods prety safe

Yes you can, I run it in my crown on an eVic VTC Mini all of the time
