I'm new to sub ohming and just picked up my crown with a 100w mod. I'm vaping 75vg in it with the .25 coil. I can't vape it higher then 50 Watts. Even then what happens is it starts off smoothly and then as I keep inhaling direct to lung the vape warms up which i like but really packs a punch to my lungs and have to stop or I'll cough! As I raise the Watts my pulls have to get shorter and quicker.

When I tried it out at 70 Watts my lips would get really burned on the drip tip!
My NIC level is at 6mg. Is it that? Am I not used to the big load of vape? Thing is that got me, is man that drip tip gets so bloody hot at 70watts you couldn't even touch it!!
I did find the warmer the vape the better flavor but it really packs a punch

What mg of nicotine were you using before you tried subohming?

If you were using 6mg before, you should cut your nicotine by at least 50% to keep from coughing. More vapor = more nicotine per hit.

I must admit 6 mg at those lvls im suprised you arent nicotined out. I think your burning of the lips is from your drip tip and high wattage and the low ohm .25 coil altogether. My guess is the crown is not good for low ohm and high wattage. Drop down to like 50 watts and just take longer pulls if you must. Maybe try not chain vaping if your are. Back to back pulls will heat your tank up. Also for the sake of your nicotine use, I suggest you drop down to 3 mg nicotine or lower if you can. That has nothing to do with the heat we are talking about but still, I had to tell you my thoughts.

Let me know how this works out at around 50-55 watts and not chain vaping to much. Maybe search around for drip tips that can handle heat better im sure you can ask around and find one. I dont know of any in particular as of now but just ask around. My guess altogether is still that the crown with stock parts mabe just cant handle heat well?

Seems like a bad case of - I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm going to do it anyway.

Higher Wattage = more heat created, Faster.

I use a TFV4 tank on a 160watt X Cube II. Even though the Quad-coil can handle 140watts, I vape it at 80watts because that is what my lungs can handle.
Even then, no chain vaping or things start getting Hot.

Most of my vaping is on 75w Mods set around 30w with various well built tanks or RDA's.

Hi neighbor.

The way it generally works is the higher the watts (power) you set the faster you need to inhale to keep everything cool. The higher the watts the atomizer is putting out, the more heat it makes per second. In order to keep the vape and hardware temperatures comfortable you have to draw faster and adjust the length of time you draw. There are other variables to consider too of course. Get higher wattage right and you have more vapor that is still cool, more flavor and all of that in a shorter amount of time :)

The higher you set your watts with a given nic level juice, the more nic you're going to inhale per second of drag. Nic is the biggest factor that affects throat hit that I've found. If your vape packs too much punch you might find it better with lower nic juice.

OTOH there is no reason not to start low in watts, increase the power until you get the vape you want and then leave it there. Vaping is a personal thing and whatever works for you is right for you :thumb:

Dunno.. I like 50W on the .25Ω Crown coils. Gone as high as 65W with them but it starts getting a tad warm for my taste, and chain-vaping gets rather difficult. ;)

Yep, I'm the same. I use 50w with the .25coils.

To the OP: You know, all these sub-ohm tanks claim you can use really high wattage, but honestly they all taste like crap and get really hot when you push the wattage too high.

I personally don't understand the desire to run such a high wattage.

Exactly, you prob won't get a really good taste, vapor production will be similar to a lower wattage setting, you run thru juice quicker, you drain your battery faster, and you're doing a disservice to your coil life.
