V-Core tank issues

I absolutely love that we have a place to go and ask all the noobi and silly questions, without feeling stoopid! So I have been vaping for 41 days now, and I have tried many different tanks, and mods. I am currently using the Vmax mini with a 18650 battery, and the V-core double tank. I really enjoy this tank as it gave a nice clean pull and brings out the flavor in the juice. What I am having issues with is that this is a relatively new tank and wick (bout 9 days old) and after the 6th day, I experienced such a harsh burnt taste that I had to switch back to my cartomizer (that is leaking now). Last night I washed the V-core tank out, ran the coil under warm water for a few minutes, even q-tipped with a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol to try and get the burnt taste out. That worked for a bit and now I am experiencing the burnt taste again. I turned my voltage down to 3.5 hoping that would work. I have placed an order for replacement wick/coil, but that will take a few days to get. Does anyone have any suggestions in what to do until I receive the replacement? and/or what to do next time that may prevent the harsh burnt taste? Thank you!
