V4L 555 recipe changed?

I am a 555 freak. I have tried nearly every supplier's 555 and done head-to-head taste tests, finally concluding in December that there were really only only two distinct types: V4L 555, and Dekang. In other words, every other supplier seemed to sell the same Dekang 555 with almost identical taste/color/consistency, whereas V4L 555 was distinctly different-- "sweeter" (for lack of a better term), much more flavorful, and recognizably darker in color. I bought up a bunch in Dec. and Jan. before the well ran dry, so I got very attuned to the V4L 555 taste (or at least the taste of that batch), and can instantly tell the difference between it and regular Dekang 555.

So, on St. Patty's day the 30ml 555s were back in stock, so I ordered up another large batch in varying strengths. Long story short, unfortunately this batch looks and tastes exactly like all my other Dekang 555 8-o . Don't get me wrong... I love any and all 555, so it definitely ain't going to waste (!) but I fear the possibility that the former V4L 555 taste I grew to love dearly was either a manufacturing glitch unique to that batch, or an entirely different recipe/ingredients no longer in use. I have several 5ml bottles of the old/former batch still, and head-to-head with the new batch at the same nic sterength/s there is no comparisson--the latest V4L 555 tastes and looks like everyday Dekang 555.

Any other V4L 555 nuts out there notice this?

Because the 30ml is the new premium juice, if you want to the old flavor only come on the 5ml I believe.

I just noticed that these new 30ml 555 bottles have YNDK (Boge/Dekang) caps, so maybe that explains it... it is Dekang 555. I guess that would make sense, since as far as I know DK is the only manufacturer with the recipe (someone correct me if I'm wrong on this). Anyway, whatever it was that made that prior batch so exceptionally tasty, I'm gonna miss it!!

I don't think you're the only one to notice a difference. There is another thread with this same topic. I am one who totally agrees with you... the new juice is different.

I think the duplicate threads on this are stemming from the fact that you can't search for the term '555' since it's only 3 characters.

I got the Tobacco Shop Sampler yesterday, and instantly fell in love with the 555. I want to order some more, but from my understanding, the 30ml juice should be the same as the sampler I got? I can live with that since I haven't tried the older flavor.

Was is the Tobacco Sampler the prem.? The reg cartos have the reg 555 ... which was the 5ml... and the prem. cartos have the prem. juice... which is the 30ml.

Yeah, it's the premiums. So I should be good to go then? And the older flavor is supposed to be better than the 30ml? Really?

I can live with ordering the premium 30ml's, but if there's going to be a new shipment coming in, I think I can hold off. I've been really holding back from screwing on my 555 cart because I really want it to last until I can get an order in.

Get the 30ml if you like the prem.!!!! We don't know if the reg 555 is coming back.

Sorry Timothy... yeah I had waited and waited for the 30ml as well and ordered a pack of prem. cartos as soon as they hit the shelf. Remember some people can't tell much of a diff. so... you could end up loving the new stuff.

It appears that most of the tobacco flavors (is 555 a tobacco flavor?) are suffering from a noticeable difference between classic and premium. There are threads about Kant, Parliment and Kamel as well. Leaford has posted that tobacco is the hardest to replicate.

I really only have been following the Kant story...since that is my personal fav. Leaford says he is working to bring back that flavor. I am not sure where the blue/green/new/old parliment story stands.

It has been stated by V4L that they are working on bringing back the Parlament green flavor. No idea how long that will take?

It's amazing to me the difference between the regular and premium cartos. My partner and I loved the regular expresso cartos so ordered 5 packs of the premium. Big mistake. The new ones taste nothing like the regular expresso...more like my grandma's perfume bottle...completely unvapable.

+2! That is, assuming the old recipe was actually a known Ancient Chinese/V4L Secret and not just a unique/lucky batch. If it was the later, we can probably start writing Country Music ballads to it right now, as we won't likely see/vape it again...

In dedication to the V4L Original Recipe 555 (!) I would happily mail one of my two remaining 5ml bottles of the Good Stuff to Leaford in Shenzhen so he the folks at the juice plant could sample what we're talking about and try to emulate it once again. Without a head-to-head taste test it is difficult, if not impossible to describe the difference/s between the former, coveted V4L 555 flavor and stock Dekang 555 (which the latest 30ml supply seems to be). Shipping and return shipping (for any remaining droplets ) is on me!!
