My post had nothing to do with yours. I quoted Natalia not you :)

how would not filing my batteries cause me frustration when i clearly stated the other method worked for me . it does seem to be the carts when other carts work fine on the battery . how am i acting high and mighty? i am just sharing my experiences with threads . last of all the batteries and carts i am using do not come from v4l due to i have been burned by v4l's products too many times . i use a defender that uses the 808 cart . i do not mean to sound like i am downing filing , just saying it is not for me . as long as everything still makes contact all should be good i suppose . i just like that nice tight fit .

My batteries aren't from V4L, all other cartos fit them perfectly so why file the batteries? I'm not trying to argue with anyone. From the video I made the mistake of "assuming" I would get newer inventory. I didn't.

OP asked if others had this problem. "Yes, I do". The end.

Gotcha

i see that now ... apologies .

not a problem at all

The youtube video is from early June. My order for blank Cool Carts was this last week. So, they know there is a problem and are still selling these.... hmm. Just doesn't seem right, but as I said, I'm able to use them on my PT, so not a total loss. Live and learn.

Exactly right...they should have been pulled from stock by now and fixed before selling them to their customers. It takes a lot of strength on some of those batts to get the treads down. I finally had to have my husband do it for me...and even he had problems. I still have about 4 or 5cartomizers that don't fit. My sister has about ten of them that won't work. Glad you mentioned using them on something else. I almost tossed them out. I may buy a batt that they fit on one day. Thanks for the tip.

Aloha Salliezoo,

Needless to say I was pretty upset  when I ordered a Pass-through, some Cool Carto blanks, and juice only to find out that after filling a Carto it didn't screw on all the way. The first thing any man thinks of with any threaded fitting coming up 1/32th short is to "work the metal" or "work the thread" by twisting the Carto on as hard as you can then backing it off and repeating it until it works.

My wife always refers to me as the Neanderthal when it comes to such things, but there are only 2 very small tight threads and I didn't want to run the risk of damaging them. Instead of losing my cool I searched ECF and found Born's V4L easy-to-fix video.

Since then I have helped dozens, maybe even hundreds of people with this issue and I promise you that a couple of light passes with 400 grit sand paper or a simple nail file will have you and your sister vaping those Cartos in seconds. It will not alter your battery in any way that will affect other Cartos from working perfectly on them.

I agree with both you and Natalia that there should be some type of disclaimer at V4L in regard to this issue...I share your frustration, really I do.

As for the earlier post of not "forcing them" ask your husband if he agrees with that statement. The amount of metal removed from the threads is minute, so insignificant your husband will be amazed at how hard he had to work to get that Carto to work. Especially when you fixed it with all the strength of a 5 year old in a matter of seconds.

Mahalo to you and your sister, give it try....you'll be amazed. I miss picking Guavas out in the hills of Manoa Valley and playing with the geckos. :p

Aloha back at ya Snow Dragon...Well, at first we were told by V4L to use steel wool. My sister gave up on that when the paint started to come off of her pretty new battery LOL. When that didn't work, she called V4L and they told her to use sand paper or a nail file, as you mentioned. At the time, I actually thought she misunderstood them about the nail file, seemed like "over-kill" to me). So we both tried the sand paper next. I can't remember what grit we used off-hand, but it just wasn't working for us. Thats when I got my husband involved cause I figured it needed some brute "neanderthal" type strength. He did get some of them to work with the sandpaper...but not all. The cool carts were the bigger problem but there was one wow carto too. He didn't go after it lightly tho and suggested to my sister that she get some guy to do it for her. And...Actually, I really do have more strength than "a five year old". Trust me on this, I work with chimps & gorillas on a regular basis (profession: primatologist), so I'm no wimp LOL! It just simply didn't work for me.

So the next call to V4L was from me...and got the same sandpaper and nail file advice (had to apologize to my sister for laughing at her about the nail file). Since we'd "been there, done that", we just sort of gave up on the remaining non-fitters. I had to assume at that point, that we just had some dud cartos. I will go back, however, and check the grit I was using. If its not 400, I'll give that a try per your advice. Maybe I'm using too fine of a grit.

But, I still feel that its not unreasonable to expect that when you order something thru what is considered a well-known, reputable company like V4L, that someone would be checking the batteries etal (especially in the kits) before they go out to customers. If I wanted it to be a DIY venture, I would have bought the cheapo brand at the local smoke shop. Then if it didn't work after I messed with it, I'd figure I got what I paid for...tossed it, and would only be out of a couple of bucks. No big deal. But I went for "quality" instead, and felt the higher price would be worth it because I would start off with good equipment...in working order. And it was apparent from my phone conversation with them, that they knew about the problem for some time. It was not an unknown problem or an isolated incident. Those kits shouldn't have gone out without being re-tooled first. Just my humble opinion.

As far as the guavas and geckos go, they are probably still in the same place you left them. LOTS of geckos here! Mostly running around my house making my 4 boxers go crazy chasing after 'em...but the geckos always outsmart them. Haha!

Thanks for the advice Snowdragon...I will glean our workshop for some 400 grit. Wish me luck.

Mahalo,

No doubt steel wool by itself doesn't work and Born says sandpaper so quickly at the beginning of the video, many folks don't even hear the word sand paper or know what grit. I wasn't trying to slight you over "the strength of a 5 year old" comment, it was to illustrate that you do not need to be some moke to accomplish the task. So e' kala mai sista on dat eh, da 400 be mo bettah, tell da Big Kahuna. He gonna makit mo bettah k den, den sistas be vapin and da Big Kahuna be sayin, "Ho Brah dat no be bodda da wahinis no mo it da shaka fix brah"

Just take the edge of the sandpaper, enough to cover the treads only, place a little a pressure with your thumb and index finger and twist the battery end back and forth a 4 or 5 times, wipe down the threads and then try the carto, repeat until it works.

400 grit is great, for other uses, wet it with a little soap and you can use it to clean hard water stains on glass (showers), paint spatter on windows, rust or stains out of sinks, it's a must have around the house.

As a kid I can't tell ya how many Gecko's we had running around with no tails! I miss surfing...not much of that in Idaho.

Aloha and again mahalo!

Mahalo back at ya Snow Dragon (love your new look). Well I'm not sure I'll get anywhere with the batterys...but I'm lovin the tip for the waterspots on the window!!! So that's how you get rid of those dang spots! Who knew???

Took me about 20 minutes to translate your pidgeon...but I got the gist. (Been here six years and I still can't understand half of it, LOL!) Bottom line is...no offense taken...just messin' with ya'. If I was offended, I'd just have to send one of my 600 lb gorillas over to Idaho and let him have his way with you, so to speak. So, I'm covered.

No 400 grit in the workshop...gotta get to Home Depot.

Mahalo nui...Sj
