If you look at the signature block way down there at the bottom of this post, you’ll see that V4L plays backdrop to my bragging rights, so I felt it was only fair that I try some of their Nobaco juice. I hit the website, clicked my mouse a few times, and settled down to wait for the angel. Some folks call it a mailman, but I call it an angel. Mmhmm.

My order arrived quickly, two big bottles and six little bottles. Here’s the family portrait.

Mom’s pleasantly plump after six trips to the maternity ward, but Pop stays lean and rugged, working two full-time jobs and driving cab on weekends to pay for all those bookbags, braces and trips to Disneyland.

The labels have nice pictures and warnings to keep away from children and the larger bottles have me-proof-caps.

The flavours ordered were Banana Cream Pie, Bananas Foster, Cognac, Cowboy Blend, Doc Pepper, RY4, Spiced Apple Cider and Whisky, all at high nic. Two of the bottles are marked 24mg, the rest are all marked “high”, so I'll assume 16mg – 24mg on those. If somebody has specific numbers, please add them to this thread.

In the spirit of being Theroux--and that’s not a spelling error, I enjoy pretending that I wrote The Mosquito Coast—I vaped all but one of these liquids at 3.2v, 3.7v and 6v on standard 510 atties; 3.2v and 3.7v on 801 atties; and finally at 3.2v and 3.7v on 510 LRs (Low Resistance atomizers).

Each of these juices gets a 3 out of 5 on the TH, where 1 is zero nic and 5 is me face-planting due to the hole blown through the back of my neck.

Vapour for each juice is a 3.5 out of 5 relative to pure PG mixes. No issues with the vapour.

Now we come down to flavour, and this is where a lot of the juices take a big hit. At 3.7v/510 atty, there’s not a whole lot of front taste, and what little there is has a perfume aftertaste. At 6v/510 the flavour burned away and I found the TH too harsh. 3.7v/801 raised the intended flavour and lowered the aftertaste, but only at 3.2v & 3.7v/LR do these juices really deliver. Most of these flavour ratings are based solely on this range of voltage and use of LR atty, so, except where noted, for any other combo, knock a full point off of the score.

Banana Cream Pie: Fl = 3. It’d be 3.5 if it was called “Bananas and Cream”, because it definitely tastes like bananas and cream, but that word “pie” is in the title, and I’m not tasting the pie. I might toss in a little graham cracker flavour to see if I can make the stuff true to its name.

Bananas Foster: Fl = 4. With the right voltage/atty combo, this stuff is yummy--rich banana with just the right amount of vanilla and caramel, especially on the first few puffs off a fresh dripping. I’ve gone full nights now, vaping only this juice. One caveat: this juice has a very low viscosity. When dripping, holding the bottle at any angle resulted in drops forming on the bottle-top’s threads. You may have noticed in the picture that Momma’s got a few stains on the front of her apron. Best to hold the bottle completely vertical and keep a paper towel handy.

Cognac: I’m going to give this two flavour ratings; one based on what it’s supposed to taste like, the other for what it actually tastes like. Based on cognac, this stuff’s a 2. It doesn’t taste like cognac, at least not any I’ve ever sipped. For its actual flavour, it gets 4.5 and is the hands-down leader of the pack. It tastes like ice-cold grape Crush on a hot day after I’ve mowed both the front and back lawns. This stuff is delicious on all atties, at all voltages. I expect it’ll be the first bottle squeezed dry.

Cowboy Blend: Fl = 2. I’m not sure which cowboy went into this, but if I had to I’d guess it was one of the wimps who took a beat down in Shane. Very little taste. It’ll make a half-decent base for a menthol mix, but by itself, it’s a dud.

Doc Pepper: Fl = 3.5. It certainly lives up to its name. I’m actually a little amazed. This is the first Dr. Pepper I’ve tried and I get the appeal. That said, I only drink Dr. Pepper a couple of times a year, so that’s about how often I’ll vape this.

RY4: Fl = 3. I’m a tad spoiled on this flavour because my first experience with it was from a vendor whose RY4 makes sweet Barry White love to my tastebuds. V4L’s RY4 is still good, and will do as an acceptable backup, but it ain’t no Barry White.

Whisky: Fl = 4. It’s JD on the rocks, and the only juice besides the cognac that delivers on all atties and voltages. I’m not much of a whisky drinker, and when I do go for the hard stuff, I like to have a cigar, so I’m looking forward to mixing this with some of my better Cuban juices.

All in all, a good batch of liquid once I found the right voltage/atty combo, but the astute will note there’s one flavour left to review, and it is with some trepidation that I draw attention to the black sheep of the family.

Spiced Cider: Fl = 1. If Oedipus had ripped out his tongue instead of his eyes, I’d be changing my name to something Greek and learning sign language. It absolutely does not taste like spiced cider, unless that cider was aged in a cask of Vaseline and spiced with my armpit. The stuff tastes so bad, I’m considering taking out a restraining order against it. Get thee behind me, Spiced Cider!

So thumbs up to the Bananas Fosters, Cognac, Whisky and Doc Pepper, thumbs sideways for the rest, and thumbs so far down on the Spiced Cider that the ghost of Gene Siskel manifested to help me out…or maybe it’s just all that vapour.
