A few weeks back, I took my kids on a day trip to
Lost River Gorge in the White Mountains. It's just a couple of hours away, and we'd never been there before. So, we headed north and spent several hours exploring caves, walking the trails, and being surrounded by general awesomeness.
This is the three of us in silhouette, reflected in the super-clear water below while standing on a bridge.
One of the most visible highlights was this 30-foot waterfall, located deep down in the gorge.
The kids, (ages 12 and 8),
really loved climbing around in all the caves.
Here they are, emerging from another cave.
As soon as they spotted it, they scrambled up this bench and started taking pictures of the view.
The view from the bench.
After a four-hour round trip in the car, and about five hours walking and exploring in the woods, we all slept well that night.
