that does sound good!
i had to have my mothers BF explain the rules to me. i watched for almost an hour before i figured out what was going on. i still dont really get why the rest of the team doesnt ride infront of the jammer on each pass to push the other team out of the way

That's the tricky part about derby: blockers have to play both offense and defense at the same time. Sure you can just break through for your jammer, but then you've essentially done the same thing for the opposing jammer too. Ending a jam with both teams scoring 4 points is no more helpful than both teams scoring nothing... The best case scenario is to have one cannon ball ricocheting through the pack to get your jammer through while the other three blockers continually gang up on the opposing jammer forcing her out of bounds (or knocking her down altogether, jamming for 2 minutes and getting knocked down the whole time is hell on earth).

Thanks for 'splaining! I see the strategy in that; chris was telling me that the blockers had to remain close to each other or they would be forced to let the jammer go by untouched. i didnt get that one either.
and to clarify, if a jammer is knocked outta bounds, is she sent to the box, or only if she reenters in front of the blocked that pushed her out? i didnt understand most of the penalties other than illegal hits

#2 I got a very annoying letter from my landlord today. Apparently, the owner has decided to sell the property and they want me to allow realtors, inspectors, potential buyers etc. etc. into my house once a week for god knows how long until they sell the property. I am not enthused. I have gone through this experience two other times, and it was hellacious both times. I don't have any interest in doing it again. Time to move. NOW.

Yes, blockers must maintain a pack. Otherwise instead of physically blocking they'd all just sprint away to not get scored upon (known in derby as runaway .... let's say it's "runaway cat") There's a buffer zone at the front and rear of the pack called the engagement zone: blockers can onoy engage in the engagement zone or in the pack.

The out of bounds thing applies to all skaters, but affects jammers more often. If you're knocked out of bounds you can't improve your track position relative to other skaters when you reenter. That means if you were in front of me when I go out, I have to come back on the track behind you. If you knock me out you've taken my position on the track and I have to come in behind you. If I reenter the track in front of you it's called "cutting the track" (like cutting in line). If you cut one or more opponents (or two or more teammates) it's a major penalty and you're sent to the box.

#3 Hi levisdaddy! Sorry Levi is teething so badly. My daughter had a lot of tooth pain, and the only thing that consistently helped her at night was a combination of Orajel and baby ibuprofen or tylenol. If you don't usually give him meds, and I understand if you dont, I would recommend making an exception in this case. It makes a world of difference.

screw all that noise! by law, although i am not sure if this is accurate, is the landlord required to give 24 or 48 hours notice? if you changed the locks or add a lock, it would force them to contact you and for you to be present. i HATE the thought )and when its happened to me) of people being in my house, uninvited, with out me there.
on a side note, it was fun kickin it with you on sat!
i have the peach bacco and the bloody sunday loaded up and been workin em all day. loves it

when the opponents jammer is in the box, you get two min to score as much as possible. is this over if the remaining jammer gets a penalty? would make sense as i reread my question :)
i saw some of the smaller girls laying the bigger ones on their arses. it was crazy, some were just hell bent on plowing into people and droppin em.

we succumbed to baby tylenol (tastes like bubble gum, kinda bizarre) today. he has expressed mouth pain for a day and a half straight. i need to get him a new teething ring, and freeze some bread for him. the bread worked a couple times, but when he is like this its near impossible to get him to hold/eat anything. orajel is next :)
i hope he lets us sleep tonight, feel so bad letting him cry in his crib even for 5 min....

#4 Saturday was fun. I haven't been out in a while. Too bad it ended in liquor infused violence. Some people are so melodramatic.

Yes, landlords have to give you 48 hrs notice before entering your residence, and can't enter without your permission unless its an emergency. But regardless of all that, the whole thing is just unacceptable to me. I am a private person and don't like the idea of random people being in my house, even with me being present. I've also had some awful experiences with owners doing "improvements" on the properties while I was living there. Like chainsawing trees down right outside my bedroom window at 6 am. Or tearing all the shingles off the roof at 6 am. And not telling me in advance that they would be doing these things. I will not go through that s**t again. Not to mention the fact that new owners means possible rent hikes or other undesirable changes. Not a happy camper right now. Need to find a new place ASAP!

Good Morningnite, jpf880! I hope all fares well with your wife and you get to feeling better after the buffet :p Sometimes you just over do it! But you bounce back =]

Pretty slow for me tonight... different desk and 2 co-workers short, so... pretty restricted :/ So, I am surfing... for sandwich recipes... anyone know the works of Lawrence Sanders? He's an author that wrote the Archy McNally series... Archie is this live at home adult male... wannabe detective... peacock dressing... crazy old fart who oftentimes makes the most MAGNIFICENT SANDWICHES EVER! The series is kind of endearing and a comedic sort of way, but the sandwiches described in the series drive me absolutely friggen CRAZY!!! SO GOOD!

Well, I am going to have to dig around for those books... they were magnificent =] and I want those sandwich recipes LOL

What other books did he write? Seems to me I read one of his series about a detective.

The Deadly Sins series. Great reads!

Mmmm, okayyyyyyyy I just don't see a motorcycle riding, Bella loving man with expert functionality around kitchen gadgetry to be an Archy McNally type of guy  Him is expert veggie slicing, condiment smearing, and luncheon meat folding SANDWICH MAKER! I do not think he mentioned a pressure cooker smoker in 25 books :/

I'm a little slow in posting, but here nonetheless. I hope all is well and I'm glad to see others into CSA's. I just thought I'd add another little secret I've found (if it's in your state) called Bountiful Baskets and it's a non-profit coop that has saved me a lot of money on fresh fruits and vegies. Plus they have some great add-on's. The reciepes on their blog get a little "exotic", but once in awhile there's a good one. Just thought I'd throw that in.
