I thought it might be, and I guess that if it went "blooey!!!" it wouldn't matter a hill of beans whether or not it was in a sealed tube. Like I said, the fear is probably unfounded.

Besides, I got over (okay, mostly got over) my fear of non-poisonous snakes by touching a big white python?/boa?, and even doing the Texas Two-Step with her owner while she was wrapped around his neck and waist. When he walked into the club with the snake, I stepped on a chair, up onto and over an occupied table, and went to the other side of the room, shivering all the way. A guy advised me to go pet the snake because snake-man had brought the snake in to get just that kind of reaction. I thought about it, shivered and squirmed for a minute or two and went to pet it. I'm a gal that couldn't even go into a snake house at the zoo and wouldn't even watch the snake scene in Indiana Jones! It's good thing I got over the fear, because I'd have a hard time getting my walker over a table now!!!

Good job not being afraid, the snake didn't do anything wrong. The owner however...

1. 5/8 - I don't know what I was thinking. I think I fixed all the naughty bits. Moving on-

I tried a new DIY mix last night and thought it tasted like burnt rubber. It turns out I need a new coil on that rba, the juice is fine. My multimeter is a liar (the leads say 1.6 if they stop changing when touched together), I don't know how to check the ohms when I rebuild my rba. I've asked a few pros, but the answers are not helpful. It's like asking "I'm thinking about getting a good mod but I can't decide, what should buy?" and the answers are all"Get a Provari". All I want to do is check the ohms on a new coil.

I'm thinking about cutting the leads really short and soldering them on a 510 connector hot glued into a hole through a piece of wood. At least that way I would have a stand for holding the atty while attaching and testing the coil. Plausible?

Edit: Subtracting 1.6 ohms to get a reading is not that bad, it is consistent on all my cartos, coils, and other heads. It must be the wire material in the cheap leads. That's not my only issue with using a multimeter. Holding an RBA while holding leads to it is a large part of the reason that $20 ohms checkers exist, and why there are never in stock anywhere for long. I'm going to cut and solder the leads on a wooden block mounted connector Thursday when I'm off work.

ReEdit: Leads cut to 4 inches with exposed wires twisted together gives a solid .5 ohms reading. It might be the multimeter, but consistency is the only important thing.

1) Considering the latte, marinara sauce, and stout beer I spilled on myself yesterday, it was a bad idea to try to replace the coils on my eBaron Dripper Pro. I cracked the CE2 cup. Guh. I only have two left, including one in my Killer 705. If anyone knows where you can buy CE2 ceramic cups, please please please let me know.

2. 5/8 - I just successfully wrapped a coil for the first time ever, only took 3 tries. 1st try was using a drill bit with 32g Kanthal, it had the right ohms but I could not get wick in it. 2nd was 28g Kanthal but I couldn't make one small enough to fit in the RBA. 3rd try was just right, 32g wrapped around wicks and a paperclip. Goldie Locks and baby bear agree.

#4 Schnarph, just leave the RBA on the mod to check ohms. Another option is just to drill a piece of wood with a wood bit to hold the RBA itself.
I don't own a mod with a digital readout, much less one that checks ohms. I soldered the cut lead wires from the multimeter to a 510 connector and now I only need to subtract .5 ohms, it has worked perfectly on all my pre made heads. The connector will be hot glued into a hole in a piece of wood later today or tomorrow evening after work. (post #546) I'm thinking sealed oak, I have a lot of that. I just saved myself from buying a Vamo. Now that can wait for quite a while.

Thanks for the advice!
