I just got a couple Efest and have the same problem. GRRRRR!!!!!

Don't know about 18350's, but I recently run into a couple of Efest 18650 button-top, which won't make contact in my provari - even though they work fine in the vamo.

Under close scrutiny they turned out to have a shorter nipple compared to other Efest IMR button-tops I have, no vent holes in it, and a spelling error on the label ("Rchargeable", without the first E)... Either they're Efest knockoffs (yeah, that's a nice joke :)), or Efest's QA dept leaves a little to be desired.

Either way, I fully understand you can find a lot of variation among (supposedly) identical (supposedly) Efest batteries ;)

EDIT: here you can see the difference I'm speaking about...

V1 = flat top. no nipple
v2 = nipple top

I just picked up a 18650 Efest for my Vamo.... looks just like the one on the right of your picture, except the one I got doesn't have the top nipple. Hope i got the right thing, shop by my pad didn't have ones with nipple tops. I charged it last night, but havn't put it in the Vamo yet.

Here's a pic of what i got:

My generic ego charger does that. It flashes red and green until it's fully charged. I read that this is self checking to make sure that it doesn't over charge.

Yea, my crappy generic eGo charger will do that, I picked up a joyetech one and it works without flashing.

One thing I've learned from all of this is, don't use genetic chargers or batteries. Starter kits are cheaper, but in the long run cost more since you'll end up having to replace parts of it with better or name brand stuff.

That makes me feel better, thought I was going crazy there for a min.

But I tested the batterie with the vamo and the tr-001 didn't over charge them like the crappy generic one that came with the kit did.

I was reading some scary reviews of the tr-001 yesterday, like people having it shoot out sparks and blow the plug out of the back of it. But all these reviews were from sites selling the tr-001 that is white. I have the black one, hopping its an updated modle or something. Its definatly a tr-001 though.

I have several of the white tr001 chargers for 4 years now and all are still working perfectly. I have an xtar too.. use both all the time without problems.. Dont know why the black tr001 would be built any differently. Never tried them.

Kind of curious... how long does it take to charge your 18650's on your TR-001's? I own a black one and it takes in excess of 12 - 14 hours. I actually gave up using it because it rarely indicates a full charge. My XTAR WP2's takes about 3 - 4 hours on .5 amp and less than that on 1 amp current.
