Usually those things are in there for a reason, soul2tha. As The Ocelot and SupplyDaddy said, I would put it back in... just check alignment and that everything is where it should be when you put it back together. :)

Sometimes that's not possible. My new Vamo arrived with its already chewed up. That's why I know what it is. There was a thread with a fix, but I don't know where it is since the reorganization. It may be in the archives - I shall go hunt.

ETA: I just skimmed, but I think this is the thread I was thinking of: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vamo/375871-vamo-ohm-error-fix.html

That might be what my problem is but the piece that I took out to make it work is the red cardboard ring on the bottom where the battery touches. I'm trying to glue it now but I don't think it's going to work. It's like the battery doesn't reach the terminal when it's in.

Cardboard? I'm not visualizing this. Is it inside?

ETA: I just took my Vamo apart. Do you mean the red grommet that goes around the contact?

This thingy?

I only use mine to check battery levels. He's just too delicate and easily traumatized for daily use.

Kinda like my Tesla... I keep her around cause she's useful (batt level, resistance checks when I'm lazy)
Might use her more if I get her a new top, cartotanks just don't do it for me anymore... maybe a Kayfun or a Kraken (or both)

Any battery. If you remove the red grommet there is bare metal underneath. Zap.

Ahhh... gotcha... definitely don't wanna run without that...

@soul2tha - the red grommet is thin and sits slightly lower than the contact, plus it s rubber and gives to pressure. Although it possible that's causing the problem, I would be more inclined to look at the spring in the bottom cap. Have you tried extending that to push the battery up more?

ETA: It's not rubber. I learned something this morning.

Just tried a button top battery and it works fine but don't want to use them because they're garbage. Where the battery connects must've somehow gotten pushed down. Just gotta figure out how to fix that now.

I use AW IMR button tops in all of my mods, but that's just me.

Firstly you need a 4mm ID nitrile washer to replace the cacky one supplied with the Vamo. These can often be found in spares bags that come with certain atties, such as the KFL, Russian 91%, Ithaca,Hercules etc. Failing that, a variety box from Fleabay is a tinkerers dream.

Take a very small jewellers screwdriver and gently work your way around the Vamo pin, gently easing it up until it is fully clear.

The pin is soldered to a positive (red) lead that connects to the PCB inside the Vamo.

Gently ease the pin out as far as possible which is anything from half an inch to a full inch.

Now take the nitrile washer and cut through just one side of it.

You can now twist open the washer to fit it around the red wire.

At this point you have a choice. You can either then push the red lead and pin back into the Vamo thereby squashing the new washer into place and screw an atty into it to make sure it's seated properly or;

Before you push the lead and pin back in, take a cocktail stick and smear the smallest amount of bathroom silicone possible on the underside of the new washer and then fit it all back into the Vamo. Fit an atty into the Vamo and leave overnight.

I have two Vamos, one fixed by each method and they work fine more than twelve months later.

Have fun and mind the language.

Yes, there is a red cardboard ring in the tube of the vamo, where the positive end of the battery is. Safety feature.

Yeah. Doesn't feel like rubber. But when that's on I don't get a connection. Not even if it's centered.

Oops! Sorry, I thought it was rubber. Anyway, mine's not centered either.
