Theres a kink in my Vamo v2, very slight, but the middle compartment, the one with the battery terminal, appears to not be inside the upper shaft all the way. Theres like a .3mm gap on one side that leads to a kink in the Vamo. Would it be alright to gently tap it with a hammer to make it even? You can just barely see the gap in this photo - its on the right hand side.

i own several vamo's, its a sturdy device but can easily be disassembled, from what i see in the picture, yes you could try pushing the pieces together or tapping it a bit to even it out, just be gentle  *REMEMBER TO TAKE OUT THE BATTERY FIRST!!! this is a little video of a vamo disassemble Vamo first impression and disassembly how to - YouTube

Tried this and it didnt seem to budge

Try laying it down on a flat surface with the Vamo so that there's a space underneath/ hump up. Press down hard. It is a very tight fit and when I took mine apart there was oxidation kinda "welding" the pieces together. After I got it apart I cleaned off the oxidation with brasso, dried it an put on some Noalox. Also put some Noalox on the threads as they will oxidize and wear out. The weak points of ther Vamo are:
510 connector is easily stripped.
rubber washer under 510 connector gets pushed down easily.
threads begin to "grind"/ wear down.
soldered wire connection under cap
All IMHO.

Is this true (the threads prone to stripping) of the stainless version as well? I can see chrome plated brass threads being weak but stainless threads should be strong!?

Yes SS is the stronger metal BUT the downside is it's a poor electrical conductor. Add to that PG vapor and some dust makes for undue stress on the threading. Also there are different grades of preparation in regards to the protective qualities of SS. Learned all this from my nephew who's a highly skilled tool and die maker. Think about the ball joints in a car- as long as they're properly greased should last a long time. Take away the lube process and add dirt and usually premature failure. With my Mods I generally clean the threads about once every week or two. My very first PV, a Mech Mod, is as good as new.

Thanks for the suggestion, it worked to lay it down and do it that way. Its not 100% perfect but its only 1 degree off now where it was nearly 3 or 4 earlier (give or take). Its barely noticable now and I probably wont worry about trying to exchange it or return it now. It will be even less noticable once my 18350 batt comes in so I can use it in its shorter config.

What would you suggest for taking care of the 510 connection? I read that before I got the device so ive been gentle when screwing in my AGA T.

I wouldn't use an adapter as they seem to cause washer (short) and thread problems. The worst is when the PV is dropped and the carto/ clearo takes the brunt of the fall. I'm also VERY gentle and careful with mine/ don't over tighten anything and am curious as to how long it will last. Would be nice to see a quality VV/ VW PV released for a reasonable price....maybe just have to make our own :D

Think so, it was from High Desert Vapes

Give them a call. See if they'll replace it. They should, vendor cost on these is pretty low ($20 range, depending on number of units purchased)

Bought mine at Vapor Bank about 4 months ago, mine has had no problems yet aside from the black gun metal finish wearing off. I just jwrapped it in black carbon.

I hate that you had to go through all of that! Wouldn't they take it back? Are you satisfied with it now? I just don't want you to have something you are not happy with and I'm sure that they wouldn't either. :)

Im sure they would, it falls within their return policy and they have really good customer service from past experiences/inquiries ive had to them. Im very pleased with it now, before straightening it you could visually see that its kinked, but you cant at all now.

That jwrap looks sweet Red_Bird, may have to look in to those depending on how the chrome finish holds up.
