Vamo v2 Repair or first box mod?

My Vamo v2 (SST) needs a new head, so I was looking at my options for under $10 I could try and replace the head
OR
I could make my first box mod with the working Vamo chip / screen

Has anyone done this before? A quick search didn't have much results....

I played with a VTR the other day and really liked the battery compartment, other than that I have never used a box mod.
Any suggestions or links would be great (let me know if I posted in the wrong place)

i took my vamo and made it into a box mod. nice n compact, still working like a charm.

I ordered a 510 connector, and I have some sample requests out for boxes, buttons, battery terminals, wire and heat trace - so I will wait and see how that goes, still looking at other mods, some great work to grab inspiration from

if you are using the vamo board with the screen you wont need a different fire button. i am in the process of building a box mod out of my old vamo. I am using a 3x2x1 project box from radio shack and everything fits perfect in there with an 18650 battery

This is something I am considering for my Vamo, which is excessively heavy and is a bit large for me to use very long. I have a friend that has made mods, so I've asked him if he would be able to build this 'Vamo S' or Split Vamo for me if I bought the kit:
