See the pic below. This jewel arrived in yesterday's vape mail. I've been tearing through my favorite juices and I really love the power management features of this device. However, as others have noted, the 510 threading is somewhat delicate. The DCT shown is fully seated on the 510 connector, but there is still about 1/6" of a gap between the base of the tank and the collar on the Vamo.

Any ideas on how to address this without affecting performance?

Bumpity.

After doing some research and trying to fashion my own adapter (failing miserably and popping the coil in one carto), I ordered an air flow controller. I'm convinced that the problem is with the tank, not the Vamo, as it is very poorly constructed and wants to leak all over my mod.

So, I've also ordered a ProTank 2.

If you have a protank beauty ring, you can use it to reduce the visibility of the gap. Put in on the ego threads before you install your tank, then estimate how far the tank will screw down and set the ring to approximately the point where it will tighten against the ring at the same time it reaches the bottom of the vamo threads.

The ring will help will the gap, wont look perfect but it will look better, i just keep my PT ring on there always and use it as a base/stop/support for everthing.

Kinda looks like the top cap isn't seated on the tube. Is that a fasttech tank with the original carto? I hear the cartos are pretty bad. I like the Boge cartos and with out the flange you could slide the tank down some more. Leave a little gap for airflow.

I'll check out the Boge.

Yes, it's a FastTech clone. In all other respects, performance is Ok but the build quality of the tank is obviously not top of the line.

I have a ProTank 2 on the way from Discount Vapers and an airflow controller on the way from RTD.

PBusardo did one video where he basically said (over and over again) "It's not the tank, it's the carto". I've been using cheap Smoktech tanks for months without much trouble. The XL Boge cartos need a 50 drop prefill and the filler is so thick (that's why they don't leak) it's a bit of a pain. Couple drops, shake like a thermometer, repeat, repeat, repeat....

The Vamo is infamous for this problem because it does not have a floating positive contact, and the well is not all that deep. An inexpensive air controller will help with 1. Protecting the threads 2. Protecting the positive pin from being pushed down too far and causing the silicone seal from popping off. 3. Protect the drip well from dripping e-juice because the air controller is sealed. 4. Help air flow as the Vamo is also infamous for blocking air flow to some carto tanks if screwed down tightly.

I have used an air controller as a permanent fixture of my V2 Vamo for almost a year and although it is not a perfect solution, it has helped to make my Vamo perfectly functional for the past year.

I just received a Vamo V5 from China with the removable top and as stated above, you can adjust the top upwards to close any gap, but then the threads are visible, so it does not solve this issue. Perhaps a Vamo V6 will provide an adjustable positive post to allow various lengths of threading to be attached properly.

Best Wishes, Happy Vaping
