My first mod - the Vamo V3 SS - came from fasttech on Monday, but the PT2 I ordered locally took forever to get here!! So I had nothing to screw on it for juice! Finally the PT2 arrived!
First impressions (and I should say before starting I have nothing to compare this too but a cigalike):
1. Love the VW and the fact I can set it and it will remember that power setting and apply it to whatever atty I put on.
2. Also nice to cycle up through the watts looking for the sweet spot. Was really something to see how the flavor comes out with a little power. That said the flavor does seem muted compared to cigalike cartomizers (i.e. not tank cartos as I have never vaped a tank carto).
3. I did install the beauty ring and adjust it to sort of stabilize the base of the PT2, along with the Vamo's top ring, but imho an adapter should come with the VAMO that makes a nice, wide, flat base for eGo devices. It really is a design flaw (again imho) that they give you eGo threads but then the eGo device is sort of perched up on this skinny neck and not physically supported in a way that keeps the device from putting pressure on threads. I will get an air flow controller and cone ring to see which feels like it does the better job.
4. I love the vapor production and the solid feel of the Vamo.
5. Love the LED menu - easy to read and access or cycle through menus.
6. Love the buttons. Very solid and clicky.
I'm very pleased, especially for the money. It IS a large, heavy device with the 18650, but that's why it performs so well. The best of all worlds would be a cigalike that lasts like an 18650 and hits like a Vamo. Guess we'll have to wait another 10 or 15 years for that technology.
One question: How much does it drain the battery to leave the Vamo on when, for example, you are at your desk working and only hitting it every so often? Like maybe even going 15-20 min between hits? More wear and tear on the button to click it 5x off and back on? Or is it better for the device to be turned off?
All in all I'd give the Vamo 4 of 5 stars with one star deducted for the eGo lack-of-base support, but other than that, for $37 (fasttech) it can't be beat. It really gives so much versatility and options for a very small amount of money. In fact the eGo fix would make it perfect, and that's asking a lot of a $37 device!
