I know (only from reading and YouTube) that on the previous Vamo versions there is a gap with a PT2 tank [and maybe all eGo-threaded tanks] where it doesn't sit flush on top of the VAMO. This caused some people to try to close that gap by over-tightening the tank, ruining the threads on their VAMO.

Some people addressed this with an airflow controller, others with an eGo ring like this:

Since the Vamo V3 has eGo threads, is there still a gap using the PT2? Does screwing the ring up on top of the Vamo just cover said gap (if one is there) or does it allow the tank to sit flush on the ring? I'm thinking the little eGo ring in the YouTube clip does a good job of providing a base if the V3 needs such a thing. Was going to order one but thought I'd ask first. :)

I always use the eGo beauty ring that came with my ProTank on my VAMO V3 when I vape with the PT. Without it there is definitely a gap because the 510 connection on the V3 is raised higher than the top of the VAMO's decorative ring.

What I do is put the beauty ring on the eGo threading but I don't tighten it down all the way; I leave it a little loose so that the PT beauty ring is raised just slightly above the 510 connection. With the beauty ring attached the decorative top ring on the VAMO fits right over the top of it. Then I screw in my Protank and when it meets the raised eGo beauty ring it locks it in place. No wobbling at all and my VAMO's 510 threads and pin aren't stressed at all. You can also raise or lower the beauty ring slightly in order to get the ProTank logo to face forward while still being tightened down well if you're .... about stuff like that (like me).

LOL. Yes, I can see doing that too (getting the logo lined up in a pleasing way). This sounds like a good method. Does the beauty ring that comes with the PT2 have a flattened top lip to act as a base for the base of the PT2? The ring in the YouTube link above seems to provide a pretty solid base for the tank to sit on...

There are mixed reports of some PT2's coming with the beauty ring, and some not, don't know what the deal is with that.

If your PT2 doesn't come with one, id recommend grabbing one elsewhere, and using it instead of an ego beauty ring.

The PT beauty rings will provide better support for the tank while also helping to fill the gap, the ego beauty ring will support the tank but wont help with the gap.

Here are some pics of the PT beauty ring in action on the V3.

No ring, showing the gap with the PT2 tightened down as far as i feel is safe. (ignore the RSST drip-tip, its a PT2)

Hey, twosm0kes thanks for those nice illustrations. It does look like it does a real good job. Hopefully my PT2 will come with the beauty ring! Won't be arriving until Mon or Tue. about the same time as I expect the Vamo V3. I have high expectations. Hope I don't end up with gurgle/burn problems like others. I vape high VG, nearly 100%.

Blowing clouds of Bobas (100%vg or as close as you can get) with a PT2 and Vamo, as i type this.

If you have wicking issues/gurgling, pop back in, nearly all Protank head problems like that are solvable with a little tinkering.

With the PT2, there doesn't seem to be too much of a performance issue regarding the aforementioned gap.

However, what worries me is that the Vamo's threads are soft and that the gap increases possible leverage stressing those threads.

I prefer running Ego-threaded tanks on my Vamo for this reason, especially when I'm out and about banging everything around.

Thanks! Do you leave all the flavor wicks in, or when you rebuild do you make new little flavor wicks? Or do you find the best results removing just one flavor wick? I'm interested since you vape near 100%.

The burny-rubber taste some people complained about happening intermittently is apparently a rubber grommet in the PT2 that can burn if the coil leads are touching it or something... was late by the time I read that thread. :) But vaping rubber is def not the experience I want. :D

Which eGo threaded tanks do you use?

I have a mini davide that's just ok. Absolutely love my mini protank. I'm going to buy a couple of the mini protank IIs when they become available.

Yeah, I'm waiting on the Mini IIs too, hoping the top cap comes off like the PT2.

But I also want to get one carto tank to try, though I really hate messing with cartos, but I love the way they vape when they work. (I've only used cartos on cigalikes.) Quality control is so inconsistent though and out of a 5-pack, 3 might be duds. That's a drawback for me.

So I really hope I like the PT2 clearo. A lot less trouble!
