I'm so frustrated! I've been a vaper since 2008 and have a fortune invested in gear. But I just want to find the right rig. I thought I had it nailed in research finding the SVD. Had all I was looking for.. Then I read on the boards here that it has major button/firing issues. A lot of really unhappy people.I lived through the Prodigy and the firing issues made me so nuts I wanted to throw it against the wall!!
So what the hell is the best 18650 mod that's reliable??? I don't care about menus and wild ... functions. I just want a VV mod that isn't going to die or frustrate me..

What say you all?...

If you dont need all the extra's,you may want to check into a mechanical and just add a kick in it,then you'll have the best of both worlds.A highly functional basic design that has very limited possibilities for anything going bad on it,and you can still set your wattage.I used my vamo and a few other vv/vw devices for several months, but once i bought a mech,my other stuff hasn't been touched since,i dont use a kick though.

So I ordered the SVD from FT and thought it wise to make sure I had a back up, given all the bad press on the SVD firing button issues. While I was waiting the looooong wait for FT, I bought a Vamo V5 from a US supplier, which came in about 3 days! I have been using it for a while now and must say it's a pretty nice unit. It's taking a bit to adjust to the size and heft, and it does tend to scare the uninitiated!

I bought 3 Efest 3100 purple batteries and the batt life is really amazing! After using Spinners and various eGo batts, having serious battery power is so refreshing! (it was the whole reason I decided to get a 18650 tube mod). I really, really like the display on the Vamo. Having the bar graph on the battery after every hit of the fire button is great. I paired it with an iClear 30s at 2.0 ohm coils. Running at 8 watts seems to give the best vape.

Then the SVD arrived this past weekend. Without a doubt the SVD has a killer look!! I like the telescoping feature because I have some 1100 mah 186490's that can't go in the Vamo. I like the simplicity of the menus on the SVD and the lock feature totally rules. I paired it with an Aerotank Mega and the rig as a whole is really what I've been looking for. I've always been a fan of bottom feeder Kangers and using 1.8 ohm coils at 7.5 watts is perfect for me.

Sooo...because I like it so much, the plan is to run the SVD as my primary and use the Vamo as a back up. I'm really praying that the SVD holds up and mine will be the one unit that goes the distance without firing button issues (Just putting some positive vibes out there in the universe)

I'll keep you all posted...

Just another observation on these two devices....

The location of the fire button is a bigger deal than I thought. On the Vamo it's located pretty far down the tube, below the display, which makes you grip it all the way at the bottom to use your index finger to fire it. The result is that it you grip it all the way at e bottom and it sticks up WAY out of your hand when you vape.
The SVD's fire button is at the top of the control unit which alows you to grip the whole device in the middle. Maybe not seemingly a big deal but for pure ergonomics, makes a big difference. Especially with the smaller 18500 batteries in short-tube mode.

Just one more observation.

The current version of the SVD has a cheap fire button that has been problematic for sometime.
It will shut off on it's own, which I am now use to.

Read the later half of this thread for a comprehensive downturn against the device.

I'd might look at the vamo next, but honestly, I am waiting for the SVD 2.0.

BTW - If you do decide on the SVD, go with an authorized dealer so you can take advantage of the Innokin repair center to get it fixed. Otherwise, if you order from Fasttech, the device with be in transit longer than you'd care and wished you spent the extra bucks instead.

By looking at the age of this thread, I'm sure you've made your purchase.

Let us know what you chose.
