Vamo voltage drop issue

Have a newbie question here. I noticed today on my VAMO that when the 18350 battery got down to 3.5 volts the vapor production dropped dramatically. It's an efest IMR. Is that normal with an APV or does that indicate an issue with the battery or VAMO? I was vaping at 9 watts and when I switched to a fully charged 18650 it went back to normal. I was under the impression the VAMO gives consistant power until the 3.2 volt mark when it needs to be charged. I was gonna try raising the watts but wasn't sure if that would strain the battery.

If it's normal to drop in power output at 3.5 volts, can I expect that with the 18650 too? I'll find out later tonight when it gets down to there if that happens. What about stacking 18350s? Does that keep it consistant longer?

It's normal considering at that point the battery is basically dead, it will give "Lo" warnings for the battery at 3.2v, but it depends on what you're vaping, if you're vaping a 1.5ohm carto at 3.5v then it wouldn't drop off much, but if you got a 3 ohm and trying to vape at 5.5v it just ain't going to happen. It will do what it can, but if the battery life isn't there isn't much it can tap into.

I see, that makes sense. Thanks for the reply! So if I'm using a lower ohm device that requires less volts is it ok to keep using a battery at 3.5 volts or would it be a good idea to switch batteries when it get's that low? I'm guessing the volts start to drop fairly rapidly at that point anyways.

I vape at high voltages so I usually change out around 3.7, but yeah at that point I would probably go ahead and change batts, .3v will probably only get you about another 30m or so on a 18350

I think with batteries in series you add up the two voltages. So the circutry in the VAMO would be reducing current instead of boosting it. Makes me wonder if the VAMO would show batt lo when the volts get to 6.4 when stacking?

it's counting total volts, 3.7v x 2 = 7.4v

Thanks for the video, lots of good info. Interesting that to get above 12 watts ya need to stack batteries. Not a worry for me as I stay around 8-9 watts.

I've been using stacked 18350's alternated with single 18650s my VAMOs. The VAMO shows the stacked 18350s being low at 6.3 v.

Hi all . I got both the v1 and also the v2 vamo. One thing that people don't realize is that it's mass made from China. Not the best quality control. Yes I like em both but you have to take into consideration who make it. Also an important factor is what battery are you using. They should be used with IMR batteries no matter what size. (just my )

With a good IMR 18650 my vamo can manage up to 3.4V, sometimes 3.3V, then it's game over. As said by MJ, yes it's normal.

This is due to the PWM circuit which converts lower voltage battery output into higher vaping voltage (step-up), but that magic can only work up to a point... The PWM efficiency level can make some difference in how low the battery voltage can be converted into your desired voltage.

FWIW I can feel a similar drop even with my provari, only it does that at lower battery voltages - 3.3 to 3.2V, just before it giving up the ghost - and I believe it's due to a more efficient PWM circuit in fact.

But then for the price of the Vamo, I can't really complain..

I use ICRs in my Vamo often as well and you get the same drop off right before the battery is going to be dead. Definitely common in just about every device.

The battery can no longer deliver at low voltage. Stacked batteries eliminate this problem.
