I got mine from www.vaporbank.com . They were awesome, and you can just call them and ask if you're not sure. I got some E-Fest 18650s from them and a nice charger too. They also give you a free sample of liquid and if you go through them try to Soft Blueberry, it's the best liquid I've ever tried from any vendor. I liked that perk. The chrome is 49.99 and they have black chrome too but it's three dollars more. Heh. Oh, and they ship with the upgraded spring so no heating up issues.

So, the Vamo in chrome would cost about 34.19 after 40% off at Exhale, plus 7.99 for joyetech battery (after coupon) plus 14.99 for (smallest) charger (post coupon) ending up with 57.17 with enough to run the Vamo or 59.99 if you get the kit from them that includes a j-wrap but it doesn't look like you'll have anything to charge it on unless you have one laying around if you go that rout.

With Vapor Bank you'd get a Vamo for 49.99 plus 13.99 for a charger and 8.99 for the E-fest Battery. You'd end up spending 72.97. I would recommend doing some research into batteries though. We use the E-Fest protected button tops and, from what I've read, it's really important to go with a good battery brand to have the best chance of not getting injured. I hear AW's are the best and E-Fest are just about the only other trusted (like I said, from what I've heard) brand.

Hey, did I just do math?

Thanks everyone for their help but I'm a little confused on the battery configuration or what to buy, keep in mind this is a new world for me and the description of the vamo says, The APV can use a single 18650, or two 18350 IMR batteries. If you want a smaller option, remove the center section and use a single 18350 battery for an ultra-compact advanced personal vaporizer.
Sorry just a bit confused on this.As a newbie on this vamo what should I start with, and what kind of charger??

Make sure you get protected, high-drain batteries. They are the safest. I vape on a single 1850 all day. They say it's safer to not double-stack your batteries like you can do with 2 18350's. If you use only one 18350 you can take out the extended section and have a more compact device but you will lose stamina. The charger will be the sort you use with rechargables and most places you order from will offer some semi-universal chargers for those. Make sure you don't skimp on battery quality and you buy the button-tops. AW's are good and E-fest aren't bad.

I've not tried them but other posters have reported issues using protected batteries—something to do with them not always being able to adequately meet the VAMOs power demands. It is recommended that the VAMO be used with IMR batteries. There have been various posts reporting that AW or Efest 18650 and 18350s work properly as well as the hybrid Panasonic CGR18650CH.

No offense to DeathsMistress, but this post contains several inaccurate statements. Since most of us simply want to vape safely and enjoyably without having to get a P.hD from Battery University, I'll refrain from picking it apart.

I will add the following suggestions to address some of the OP's concerns:

For single battery function in "full size" mode, you will be fine with:
  • AW IMR 18650 (1600mAh or 2000mAh)
  • Efest IMR 18650 2000mAh
  • Efest 18650 Hybrid IMR 2250mAh
  • Panasonic CGR18650CH 2250mAh

There are a variety of other brands of 18650's that would be suitable for use in the Vamo, but the above four are the most widely available for purchase at numerous vape oriented vendors. Button top vs. flat top batteries is a non-issue for use in the Vamo, but I'd recommend button tops when given the choice.

For single battery function in "mini" mode, you will be fine with:
  • AW IMR 18350 700mAh
  • Efest IMR 18350 800mAh

Again, there are other brands of 18350's that would be suitable, but the above two are readily available and proven to function safely and reliably. Go for button tops when given the choice. Single battery configuration is fine for single coil attys/cartos that aren't being powered at the high end of the voltage/wattage settings accessible when using the Vamo.

For stacked 18350's in full size mode, buy pairs of either:
  • AW IMR 18350 700mAh
  • Efest IMR 18350 800mAh

Label them in whatever fashion necessary to keep them in use as matched pairs. Stacking batteries in the Vamo is perfectly safe and will provide the power necessary to fire dual coil cartos/attys at higher voltages/wattage.

Finally, all batteries should be recharged with a "smart charger". They are reasonably priced and readily available for purchase. The best three options are:

  • Pila
  • XTAR
  • Nitecore i4

A resting period of a few hours prior to recharging as well as after recharging is a good practice to adopt.

Also, this section of ECF is very informative about batteries. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/129569-rechargeable-batteries.html I'm sorry that link is sloppy, my phone is old. I also liked this quote

"When we refer to 'safer', we mean the reduction of the possibility of blowing up in the face of a user who has just taken the battery off charge and is applying a heavy current draw to the device. An atomizer is regarded as a heavy current draw for this size of battery. No other definition of relative 'safety' is inferred."

I just received mine from exhale, and like you, I was using Twists and an eGo passthrough prior. I picked up the Nitecore i4 charger from Ebay for $21 shipped (SWEET!), and 2 efest 18350s from another vendor (Crystal Clear Vaping). On day 2 I decided that the 18350's (not stacked) didn't last long enough so I placed an order for the Panasonic 18650's also from Ebay (the only place I could find them 1.) in stock and 2.) at a reasonable cost $8.99). The single 18350's are giving me about 3 hours of vape-time @ 5-6.5 watts. I am definitely going to look into picking up a Jwrap as well....hope this helps!
