From what I have read on the battery portion of ECF, they take about 10 recharges to reach top performance, like being broken in. The first day my 18650 Panasonics at 2200 Mah only lasted about 5 hours. I thought WOW my 900 Mah lasts longer, but now on my third recharge, they are charging to full 4.2 volts in about 4 hours and I put them back on the charger at 3.2 volts after about 9 to 10 hours of vaping, virtually all day for me.

Button top vs. flat top batteries is a non-issue for use in the Vamo, but I'd recommend button tops when given the choice.

Thanks for the very helpful post. However, several people have reported that they are unable to screw their battery cap on all the way when using stacked 18350 button top batteries. The Efest 18350 flat tops I have do allow the battery cap to screw in all the way when they are stacked. I don't know if AW makes 18350 flat tops but I couldn't find any.

The E-Fest 18350's we have are button tops and the cap goes on just fine.

I have Efest button top and flat top 18350's. The Efest flat tops appear to be the exact same height as the AW IMR 18350's with button tops, including the top of the button on the AW's. When putting an Efest button top next to an Efest flat top, the button appears to be a smidge taller than the flat top battery. Maybe 1mm at most.

All AW IMR batteries have nipple tops, btw.

Try applying some Noalox to the threads of your Vamo's extension tube and battery cap. After I did this to mine, screwing the battery cap all the way is not a problem with any of my batteries.

Then again, since these are being mass produced in China, it's possible there are some variances in the length of the tubes from one model to the next.

FWIW, even if you don't think you need them, I would get 2x 18350 batteries just to have the option to go to "shorty" mode if you desire.

And the only place I would even consider buying 18350's from at this point in time would be Crystal Clear Vaping...

For $10.95 you get TWO EFest 18350 800mAh batteries, and a free plastic case for the batteries. And all shipping in the US is free... You just can't beat that deal with a stick... It's inconceivable!

Did I mention you get TWO batteries, a free case, AND the shipping is free for that ridiculous low price?

No... I don't work for, or get paid any fee by Crystal Clear Vaping... But I am just a huge fan of great deals, and this is a great deal on some great batteries...

Thank you so much for taking the time to compare the lengths of the different 18350s. The issue of the battery cap not closing for some stacked 18350s sounds very much like a QC issue rather than it being the case that the VAMO was only designed to take stacked flat tops.

I ordered a vamo and it shipped Tuesday...will still be a while till it gets here from overseas.
Now I am wondering what type of batteries will come with it, button top or not (website doesn't state, but looks to be flat top).
And from what I have been reading for days now....get a better charger.
New charger and batteries and 510/ego adapter is going to be needed if I want to use my t2. Think my brain is hurting from all this reading, was getting confused what batteries to get...and all the info is there to read, but it's not absorbing.

I have been using ego Twists since I started vaping months ago so I've never owned anything like a Vamo.what do I need to purchase beside the vamo meaning replacement Batteries charger ect.And what vendor is selling this at the best price.Thanks.

i just made a move from my ego twist set to the vamo aswell. I went through smoktek.com and they had everything. They dont have the widest juice selection, but 2 of the major china juice providers at great prices and then some alien vision flavors. I got a couple bottles of juice, a couple smoked vivi novas, and a gunmetal vamo for just over 100. Now, when i got this unit i got the low voltage bug. I could plop in a battery right off the charger and the vamo would tell me it was dead. But, after i cycled the batterys it seems to have grown a liking to me and hasnt done it in a month or so now. I guess you just have to convince it you're worthy of a vamo? Anyways, besides the bug which is more of a product problem, and they offered to replace it but thats when it started working, i would highly highly recommend smoktek. i got my order in 2 days after placing it!

EDIT: i forgot about the pricing part. Now, smokteks vamos i believe are around 50 bucks. I didnt mind the extra 20 just to get from a USA based vendor. Some people may feel differently, i dont like overseas customs and long shiptimes so it made up.

Mudflap mentioned to label the batteries (18350) to use in pairs. Why is this? Not to sound ignorant, but why cant you just mix the 18350's?

I am new to these style of batteries and an i n the exact same situation as the original poster

Thank you

Think of stacked batteries like tires on your car. It's not advisable to buy one brand new tire and mount it on the front of your car. It's better to buy them in pairs or sets of four and rotate them every seven thousand miles. This will help insure they wear out evenly and increase their effectiveness and safety.

Stacking batteries is similar. It's perfectly safe in a device with built in protections. It's advisable to start off with a pair of new batteries and use them in pairs so they "wear out" evenly between the two of them over the course of their useful lifespan.

A brand new battery compared to a battery with many discharge/recharge cycles will not discharge at the same "pace", for lack of a better term. It's not advisable to stack batteries with uneven wear & tear.

thank you for taking the time to explain that.. do they need to be rotated top to bottom when they are inserted also.. IE: bat 1 on top. next time bat 2 on top

I couldn't say whether or not you NEED to do this, but it certainly wouldn't hurt.

I used stacked 18350's and typically vape at 8.0, 8.5, or 9.0 watts with a 3.0 ohm Boge carto in a tank. It's not my main go-to PV, but I reach for it several times a day. I periodically check the voltage of my batteries. Fresh, they start off at 8.2 volts. When they drop to 7.0 volts, I know that each 18350 has approximately 3.5 volts left. That's when I remove the batteries, set them by my Pila charger, and install a fully charged pair. I wait a few hours before putting them on the charger.

How long do they last you at that wattage? Trying to figure out how many sets im gonna need

All day for me, but I'm usually vaping on one or two of my Reos throughout the day, too. I like to have two or three different flavors at the ready.

I'd suggest at least two pairs of batteries. Three pairs in rotation would allow you to give them a little time to "rest" before and after recharging.
