I just ordered the TFA Vanilla Swirl, the site said this is our Vanilla Custard Flavor. I've also heard good things about it.

I just tried the Hangsen Vanilla and it is good.

I just ordered some last night. The custard notes were actually removed from the Vanilla swirl see TFA description below.

Vanilla Swirl Flavor

This is our vanilla custard flavor that has had the "Custard Notes" removed. It is a very useful vanilla, good on it's own, or used in blends

I've spent some quality time with these blends, almost 10ml each through identical setups. There are some differences between TFA and Hangsen Vanilla, but they are very subtle - both of these share similar flavor notes. Vanilla Swirl has a faintly sweeter tone but I think ultimately HS Vanilla is slightly more enjoyable and truer to the vanilla I'm looking for. Neither of these overwhelmed the blend like many vanilla's I've mixed at lower percentages. Both would work great in a mix that called for vanilla IMO. Because they were so similar I can't really determine which is better. My personal preference leans just a little toward HS.

I'm going to have to continue experimenting to find a really good french vanilla using these flavors. Any recommendations?

I have that one already. I have to admit, it was the best I've tried before testing these two. Much better than the Capella Vanilla Custard and Vanilla Cupcake IMHO.

Has anyone tried the "Ethyl Vanillan Powder" from ECX. Wondering if it is worth trying.

Don't know if you tried it yet but I think Vanilla swirl is the best of the TPA vanilla's, 2nd is Vanilla bean Ice Cream.At 10% I think it is at its best,It is delicious In my opinion and gets better every day.
