I am curious about the vapers out there and want to know if you are able to do this at your work? Not at the smoking block, but at your desk, work station?

I recently asked management at my employment if I would be allowed to use this device at my desk (work in a call center) or if I would have to follow the same policy of smoking and go outside.... I have to go outside.

I even quoted a wiki, provided information! :(

I was just advised that I can't even bring it on the floor! Which means, I cannot have it at my desk. So when I go on break, I must go to my car. Guess I'll just stay in my car, vape, and get weird looks and probably weekly drug tests. lol

I'm jealous of your guys. :p I have noticed if you hold it in long enough you can't even SEE the vape!

Are employees allowed to have their cigs at their desk?

If yes, why the different policy?

Always curious .... Jan

I vape all day at my desk no issues. First day I started walked up to the guy I work with blew it in his face and he said go ahead no worries.
Ask right away, that's what I did.

I vape at my desk every day, all day. I asked my office-mate if he minded; he does not. Anyone else present in my office when I wish to vape, I generally ask if it will bother them.

I DID NOT ask HR for permission ... I went with the tact that another poster mentioned: it's easier to ask for forgiveness then permission. I am 99% sure that I would be told No if I went to HR. Therefore I will stop if I'm told, I will be respectful of those around me, and I will continue to vape to avoid cigs (and because it tastes so darn good.) :p

What is the reasoning behind this? Smokers can carry their cigs and lighters/matches. I wonder if your supervisor would know the difference between a pen and an 801 or the difference between a Cigarette box and a PCC. I also wonder how they would know if it's in your pocket? I work on a Federal Installation (Navy Base) and I vape at my desk all day long as long as it doesn't bother my co-workers/office mates.

It seems I might have to educate them in person and possibly show them how it operates.

I am the boss so I can do what I like I suppose.

I've mostly stopped now though as I work in view of customers and I asked myself if I would let anyone else do it, I wouldnt, but only because of customers.

Dam those double standards

(I also dont vap in front of my little boy, again because it may cause confusion with regular smoking)

Unless I'm alone in my mall kiosk, I take a bathroom break to vape. If I'm alone, it's stealth all the way...I work in a mall, no need to scare anyone. As for if anyone is aware, especially the people that basically stare at me all day, no clue. But I get my nic fix, and so far, so good. I find, however, that I vape a lot less often at work than when I was on analogs and took routine smoke breaks.

That said - at home I tend to chain vape...hard...thank G-d for different nic levels! 18mg at work, 8-11mg at home...
