Vape to quit smoking or vape to play

At first I was introduced to e-cigs through a girl I met, who let me have one of her's when I came down with a bad cough over winter. Used it for 4-5 days and was able to cut down my smoking from ~20 to ~2 cigs a day. Being the addict I am, of course I got back to smoking again but have been using my e-cig periodically to deal with ....ty weather and not wanting to go outside. Recently a vaping store has opened up a couple blocks down the street and the owner got me really stoked on trying to quit by vaping, especially due to some of the awesome e-cigs they had there for really cheap. I'm hoping I can power through and stop once and for all.

... But eventually I started smoking back up again. Now I do think it was due to lack of flavors and devices. Now this time around it is lot of different for me. What first became a mean to quit smoking had developed in quite a huge hobby for me. There are so many devices out there and so many eliquids that one can never try them all! I love it now more then ever!!

I was a smoker 10 years ago. I was happily quit for 10 years. During that 10 years my anxiety and OCD increased. Rather than take pharma medications, I thought I try nicotine to self-medicate. In just the week I've been vaping it has helped tremendously. (I don't think it's just the nicotine. I think it is the activity too.) In that week it has also become an enjoyable hobby. However, because of judgmental people it's a mostly secret hobby.

I don't get the "it doesn't have a purpose other than to quit smoking" camp. Many (possibly harmful) activities have no 'purpose' other than enjoyment. But I believe vaping is less harmful than things such as drinking alcohol, some sports, or driving a car, so...

I started vaping to quit dipping. I was dipping a can of copenhagen a day....finally got fed up with spending the money on the habit. Went to a nice B&M store in my area and bought a good setup. Haven't looked back since. Now I love vaping and everything about it. So yeah, I originally started to quit dipping but found that I love doing it and have no intentions of quitting.

I can only speak for myself. I tried vaping because I wanted to stop smoking cigs. Here in Calif smokers are shunned and treated like criminals. I got real tired of being treated badly and real tired of my house, my clothes, my car, and the air, stinking. I tried vaping and, as a result, after 50 years of smoking a pack a day, I quit smoking. In 1 day! I have not smoked a ciggy since December 7, 2011. I much prefer vaping; no matches, no ashes, no ashtray, no stinky smoke, and vaping is a whole lot cheaper!

I started vaping on an ego to quit cigarettes. 21 years old started smoking the cancer sticks as soon as I could buy them...smh then about 3 months ago I decided to make the switch and have never looked back since. I do feel vaping is addicting in a fun hobby-ish way. I planned on vaping to quit smoking which worked but now I'm addicted to vaping! Mods, coils, attys, juice!!! How can you not be!!!

I have been vaping off and on for about 8 month and now went full ahead and stopped smoking ciggs because of other health issues that kind of mandated it. So far 2 weeks and I am weening myself down on the nic levels. What sucks is buying a bottle of juice at 18mg nic and then 1/2 way through I start moving down to 12mg or 6mg .. I guess I should just buy some matching juice at 0%mg and then thin the others out so I don't have to throw the others out.. but that is my story at this time!

After 30 years smoking I vape now; it's basically a much better PIPE!

Don't want to get any contagious lung infection and end up quarantined cause then I can't work and I don't get paid.

Positive side effect: I guess I don't smell stink of ash no more; and no more ashtray to worry about.
Negative side effect: I might live longer than I was expecting to financially! Am gonna die of poverty!
