It is difficult to judge exactly how much nicotine a person will actually absorb from the liquid of an e-cig. As for a cigarette, although one could have 13mg-23mg of nicotine, total per cig, we would probably only end up absorbing a fraction of that..typically .8-2mg, give or take. With e-liquid, it seems that the range absorbed is/could be anywhere from 10-50% of what is taken in..potentially. I don't think there has been any specific and/or conclusive testing done for this so it could be difficult to give you any fixed ratio in that event. Thus, as NGIB stated, you simply vape until the need or desire passes to do so.

Good luck vaping latnem, it's easier to quit than you think :) I was a pack a day Winston smoker 25yrs and I had wondered the same question, (how many puffs equals) however what Ive noticed is that i vape differently than I smoked. When I lit an analog I would finish the whole thing every time whether my body was fine after half a cig or not, now when I get that urge to have one I vape a couple hits and toss it back in my pocket, if I feel like another in 10 minutes I grab it and take a puff or three.

There's no direct ratio established. Just to give you an idea though, the one study I'm aware of puts the amount of nicotine in a puff of a full flavored cigarette at 0.1mg. An equal puff of a 16mg e-cig was 0.01mg. The absorption rate of the cigarette is estimated at >95%. The absorption rate of nicotine in ecig vapor is estimated at 30-70%, depending on the technique of the vapr. Also, a typical vaper takes a longer, larger drag from an e-cig than he does a cigarette, so that has to be accounted for as well.

Doing all the math and taking all the variables of hit size, vaping technique, strength of juice and absorption rate into account, the answer is, nobody really knows.

People usually ask this question because they are worried about becoming more addicted to nicotine.
If that is what you are worried about, I can't stress enough that you need not worry.

First of all, I don't think I have EVER seen anyone here say that they became more addicted to nicotine, regardless of how much they vaped.
In fact, there really is a ton of evidence that vaping will tend to reduce your addiction to nicotine over time, for a variety of reasons.

This^^^. Take a few hits and go on. Walk up to a store, take two hits and walk in, no more standing out front hitting on the cig til you get her done, there is no done.

I might vape all day but it's a hit here and there, not a ceremony of a five minute cig.

One piece of advice if you're looking to put down the cigs, vape til you have a nicotine headache then stop. It keeps any crazy ideas outta your head about having a cig. Worked for me, 41 years of smoking and haven't had a drag in 2.5 years.

Vape it like you stole it. ;)

Ha

Well I got my setup and I can say it feels as if 3-5 puffs gives me the same fix as about a whole analog.

I was worried vaping would just be like sucking air and then I would end up getting sick from too much nicotine. On the contrary it feels identical to real smoke and my 24mg feels almost like inhaling a cigar (as far as nicotine content)
