Vape Wannabe in Halifax

Hello!

I'm new to the site. I'm not yet a vaper but I do wish to make the switch.

I've done a fair bit of on-line research in the past few weeks and even spoken with a rep from Health Canada regarding the ban and what it entails. I know that I can't get any product containing nicotine from outside the country but I'm not clear about e-juice containing nicotine from Canadian suppliers.

The nicotine isn't essential for me. Between 15-20 years ago, while visiting Ontario, I bought a cigarette substitute that was basically just a tube with a kind of filter in it that delivered a menthol cig flavour and provided a realistic draw when inhaling. That alone kept me from going insane for a week without cancer sticks. Unfortunately I never found them anywhere ever again.

When the Nicorette inhaler finally reached Canada I was elated...until I tried it.
It looks like a tampon applicator, the draw is nothing like the real thing and I could actually feel the nicotine hit and burn the back of my throat. I couldn't even force myself to finish the first cartridge.

Bottom line, nicotine is apparently less important to me than the ritual so I'm extremely hopeful about vaping.

I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia where there don't appear to be any stores that carry these (I've checked the dedicated tobacco shops) so my search continues on-line for the model and colour I'm hoping to buy.

Wish me luck!

Welcome to ECF! I'm a new vaper, also, and am a fellow Canadian. I don't think I'd still be vaping if not for this forum. I can find an answer to absolutely every question I have, and am learning so much more than I even thought to ask...

I had been checking stores and drugstores for ecigs, too, thinking that I'd find them where I'd find nicorette products. Then I learned they're in a legal grey area here, and can't legally be sold in stores. So...that leaves the Internet as a source. That's ok, now that there are some good Canadian vendors, meaning you don't have to worry about your goods getting snagged in Customs.

Once you get your post count up to 5, come on over to the Canada forum, where you can ask fellow Canadians about their favorite vendors for goods and ejuices.

Cheers! :vapor:

Oh, and what did the HC rep have to say?

Seems that for the time being, nic juice is "legal enough" to sell within Canada. Not illegal, but not endorsed by HC either. There are some Canadians on the forum who can probably give you a much more precise answer. :p

At the time I spoke with her the only suppliers with the products I was looking for were in the U.S.A. and I was told that customs would seize any "nicotine delivery devices". When I asked what made personal vaporizers "nicotine delivery devices" if I was ordering nicotine free cartridges she began an intricate dance of vague non answers and told me that if I wanted to check on a specific supplier that they allowed I would have to give her the name and she'd check to see if they weren't yet on the banned list.

I interpreted that to mean if they weren't on the banned list yet my supplying a name would help her to add them so I don't think I'll be contacting her again.

@ Dormouse, I stumbled on the Happy Vaper website and their impressive selection of PVs is dwarfed only by their selection of e-juice flavours.

I have to ask, though, has anyone actually tried any of the meat flavours?

I finally bit the bullet and ordered today (it was time to *ahem* or get off the pot).
I went with electro-vapor as they seem to be the only Canadian supplier with the 510 in red(burgundy). I confess to being a little fussy about my colours. I also ordered a holder, a drip tip and two liquids (VG base and vanilla in PG).

Now it's just thumb twiddling until it arrives.
I'm quite giddy about this.

I checked them out but they don't say where they are at. I also don't want a customs problem. That is why I have not ordered from the States.

Looks like they're in the US since it says they use USPS. Good call to stay within the Great White North. We have good stuff up here too, anyway...
