I arranged for a Wellness mobile to come to the church and do BP check, breathing test, and blood screen today.
I didn't have to do a lot but be there and it didn’t take long to get bored. I was in the dinning area which if standing in the right place, people could see me. I got my word search out and vaped away. I did try not to be obvious by blowing the vapor down and behind the back of a chair---they have big cloth covered chairs. A few people were looking and noticed I put something to my mouth but I don’t think they were really paying any attention to what I was doing. That is except for this one guy who gave me a dirty look and then did a couple obvious sniffs of the air. He was trying really hard to catch the smell of smoke so he could come storming over. Of course it never happened. Eventually he had to move but he had to give me that disapproving glare before stepping out of my eye sight.

When he was done, I followed him out and explained that I was using a personal vaporizer---all it produced was vapor and kept me from smoking. His whole attitude changed and he wished me luck.

If he were to be a member of the congregation I could understand him being concerned, NOT his glaring, if he thinks smoking is a sin that's fine but let he who is without fault cast the first stone. Giving someone a glare in church because they are supposedly doing something wrong, is wrong in itself and makes that person a hypocrit.

Oh no, what horror, a dirty look. Try vaing in a Mosque in the Middle East...

Why would you want to? Would you have smoked there? Probably not.

I can't understand this "I can use it anywhere so I'm damn well gonna" attitude.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Same goes for shops. You wouldn't have considered smoking in a shop before smoking bans & the invention of e-cigs so why now???

Actually, before the anti-smoking hysteria began a couple of decades ago, people did smoke just about everywhere. Granted, generally not in churches... When I first joined the Army, there was a smoking area, with comfortable easy-chairs and big ashtrays, right in the middle of the main room of the library on post.

You're right, though: We didn't "consider" it at all. We thought nothing of it. It was no different than drinking a coke or eating a candy bar. Now it's a mortal sin.

All a matter of perspective, I suppose.
